Chip and Joanna Gaines don’t want fans to believe the tabloid stories about them. In fact, the couple says such articles are fake news that are often sparked by paparazzi photos. Watch the video below.

Gossip Cop has regularly pointed out how the gossip media often takes pictures snapped by paparazzo photographers and builds false narratives around them. For instance, earlier Thursday, we busted X17 and the Daily Mail for wrongly claiming Ben Affleck was now using a therapy dog. The reports emerged simply because the actor was spotted with a pooch. But the canine wasn’t an emotional support dog, but a stray that Affleck actually rescued and is now raising.

The Gaineses illustrate this issue in a new interview. They explain that untrue tales about them are often spun from paparazzi pictures of Joanna looking upset, but she’s only upset in the first place because the paparazzi are following them. Discussing their life in the spotlight during a Build Series event on Wednesday, Joanna and Chip admitted they have different approaches. In fact, he confessed to be thrilled that a TMZ videographer wanted to talk to him.

“We’re so opposite. He talks to [the paparazzi]. He loves it,” Joanna said. “And I’m the one who looks down and charges straight ahead. I look mad and I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s going to be on every tabloid: Chip & Jo: Jo By Herself.’ Here we go, I should’ve smiled.” Confirmed Chip, “Every time you see Jo in these really pissed-off moods, it’s always me going to talk to the paparazzi and her leaving in this angry deal. Rarely is it us in the actual fight that they’re describing in the article. She’s really just mad at the paparazzi.”

And the situation has only been compounded by their decision to end “Fixer Upper,” with the fifth and final season premiering net month. “For people, they think there’s got to be a reason, like, ‘Oh, something bad happened and therefore that’s why they’re leaving the show.′ I think it’s just hard for people to comprehend, no, we’re just leaving because it’s right instinctively for us and our family. No negative reason,” Joanna said, adding, “But I think when you start hearing all this rumor stuff, it’s just… it’s weird.” Chip went on to joke that one day they’ll be 80, “laughing about when people used to refer to us as just about to get a divorce.”

As Gossip Cop reported, Chip and Joanna also appeared on the “Today” show earlier this week, during which they said they wanted to put their marriage and family first, even though nothing is wrong, as the tabloids have falsely claimed. Check out the video below.
