Chip and Joanna Gaines are not having a sixth baby. At least not now, as a tabloid is claiming. Gossip Cop has investigated the report and we can debunk it.
A new cover story in Life & Style is alleging that the Fixer Upper stars are expecting their sixth child. According to the untrue report, the couple found out on Christmas they were having a baby. The tabloid quotes a so-called "source" as saying, "Everyone's talking about how they're having a little girl. Rumor has it they found on Christmas!" The source adds, "Joanna and Chip are excited about growing their family."
The tabloid adds a weird tidbit in an attempt to sound credible. A source claims there will be two gender reveals, "one just for the family and one for the fans, too." That sounds like something the couple would do and the outlet is jumping on quotes recently made by the couple. Chip, in particular, has been open to the possibility of having another baby. In an interview on Sunday Today, the couple discussed it and while Chip was very enthusiastic, Joanna tempered expectations, saying she wasn't so sure. The unnamed and anonymous source goes on to say, "Chip has been very vocal about wanting a little sister for Crew [the couple's youngest] and it looks like his wish is coming true."
It's perfectly reasonable to believe that the couple may indeed add to their happy family in the future, but they are definitely not expecting a sixth child now. Instead of relying on an anonymous source, as the tabloid did, Gossip Cop checked with the Gaines' official spokesperson, who told us in no uncertain terms that the claim isn't true. The couple's rep, who also denied the story when asked by the tabloid, replied to us, "There is literally zero truth to this rumor. Completely false." Nothing ambiguous about that statement.
The couple has been making a lot of news lately, with the much-anticipated launch of their Magnolia Network set to roll out this fall. That also means the tabloids have increased the amount of bogus reporting on the two. This isn't the first time Gossip Cop has had to correct a tabloid story about the king and queen of home makeovers having another baby. In October, Life & Style's sister paper, In Touch, also published a phony report about Joanna being pregnant with a sixth. That story also relied on an unidentified source, who also clearly had no real inside information about the spouses. Gossip Cop busted that story as well.
Life & Style has also been known to make up stories about celebrity couples having babies when they aren't. In May, the tabloid purported on its cover that Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling were expecting twins. Gossip Cop debunked that story at the time, and almost eight months later, it's safe to say the tabloid likely invented the story out of thin air. The outlet's latest baby report is just as false.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
