Chip and Joanna Gaines aren’t postponing the launch of their Magnolia network due to stress, as a tabloid is falsely claiming this week. The story isn’t accurate. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.

An article in OK! is claiming the king and queen of DIY television are facing mounting pressure with their various projects and are starting to crack. The story quotes a supposed source as saying, “Friends are constantly asking if they’re feeling overwhelmed, but Jo and Chip always say they have it all under control.” The dubious source goes on to allege, “Jo and Chip are extremely hardworking. However, they’ve been struggling with the business demands coming at them from all angles.”

The couple is certainly busy. In addition to the Magnolia Market in their hometown of Waco, Texas, and a huge renovation project in another part of Waco that is slated to become a hotel, the couple are in the midst of planning and launching their own TV network, called Magnolia. This, according to the magazine’s so-called source, is what is causing the most stress. “Jo and Chip thought they could handle everything, but they can’t. It’s too much.” As a result, the outlet asserts, the Gaines’ were forced to delay the debut of the network, now scheduled for October 2020.

The idea that the network was delayed due to stress is misleading, at best. The launch date, while originally hinted to be summer 2020, was never officially announced until last week, when the October date was revealed. The couple appeared on The Tonight Show to discuss the launch and mentioned how it was a huge undertaking, and admitted they didn’t realize how much work it would be, but that they were still very excited about it and are well underway in their planning.

Despite this, the tabloid also insists the stress is causing marital problems. The seemingly phony tipster says, “They came home one night tired and irritable and started bickering,” leading to Joanna “fleeing to their bedroom and slamming the door.” This fight, says the source, led to a “serious conversation – and [the couple] realized how bogged down they really are,” and ultimately decided to postpone the debut of Magnolia.

The tabloid is wrong. The fight never happened and the supposed postponement wasn’t really a postponement, just a recalculation after everyone involved understood the scope of the launch. Gossip Cop confirmed this after checking in with the spokesperson for the Fixer Upper stars, who tells us none of the claims in the article are true.

False tabloid rumors about Chip and Joanna Gaines are nothing new and OK! is no exception. The outlet has been guilty of publishing bogus stories about the couple in the past. Last December, when their new network was first announced, the publication jumped on the opportunity to push a phony story about fellow DIY star Christina El Moussa “kissing up” to Joanna in an effort to land a gig with the new network. El Moussa’s rep vehemently denied the story, telling Gossip Cop, “Christina has never met or spoken with Joanna, so this is another false story by an outlet that has failed to check their facts.” We do check the facts and the tabloid has them wrong, once again.
