Cheryl Burke Returning DWTS

Cheryl Burke is returning to “Dancing with the Stars” for season 25, it was officially announced on Monday. Watch the video below!

Burke is one of the ABC dance competition’s longest-tenured pro dancers. She first joined the series for its second season, which she won with celebrity partner Drew Lachey back in early 2006. Later that year, she took home the Mirror Ball again, that time with partner Emmitt Smith. But her journey over the years has included some notable lows, too. For instance, Burke and Tom DeLay were forced to withdraw from season nine due to fractures in his feet. And in season 23, nearly a year ago now, she and Ryan Lochte were rushed by protestors who crashed the stage.

Burke actually departed the reality series following season 19 to work on other projects, came back and teamed up with Lochte last fall, and then sat out the spring season, the show’s 24th earlier this year. And, as Gossip Cop reported, when the season 25 pros were announced on “Good Morning America” last week, she was not among those named. But fans then learned there’d be a 13th pro unveiled at a later date. Now on the Labor Day edition of “GMA,” Burke appeared live to confirm her participation as the final pro for the upcoming cycle.

“I’m back again,” Burke said, noting, “This is my 20th season and I’m just so happy to be back. It’s an anniversary season for ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ number 25, and for me.” Over the years, the two-time winner said, “so much” has changed, including the production value, the creativeness of the routines and the skill of the celebrity dancers. “I mean, I couldn’t do any of the routines I used to do back in seasons two and three. Season 25 is just gonna be bigger than ever,” Burke shared.

The professional dancer amusingly added, “And that Mirror Ball trophy, I hear, is going to be amazing and I need it. Gonna be fighting for that!” In fact, the mirror chips are “slowly falling off” the two she already has, “so I think it’s time for a new one,” she quipped, even joking that ABC has promised she can win this round. As for her partner, Burke deadpanned, “He’s a guy.” The full cast will be revealed on Wednesday, and Gossip Cop will have full coverage. Check out the video below!
