One of this week's tabloids claims Charlize Theron is being difficult on the set of the upcoming movie about former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes. The story is both flawed and untrue. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
"Charlize Loses Her Cool!" reads a headline in the latest issue of Life & Style. The accompanying article says the actress has been a nightmare while shooting the Ailes project, in which she plays former Fox News host Megyn Kelly. "Charlize is never happy with the edits, clashes with the director and has the crew walking on eggshells around her," an alleged insider tells the magazine.
The supposed source adds, "Charlize might be intimidating and some people may even joke that she's just like the real Megyn Kelly. But Charlize has made it clear that she doesn't really care about what anyone thinks." The questionable tipster further contends that Theron is feeling "pressure to pull off" her role as Kelly and it's made her "very difficult" to work with on set.
The first problem with the outlet's phony story is that it's written in the present tense. The untitled Ailes movie wrapped production several months ago. The tabloid doesn't seem to realize this, so it has its seemingly phony "source" speaking as if all of this is currently happening.
Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but assures us the magazine's article is simply "not true." The actress wasn't demanding on set back when the Fox News film was shooting. In fact, a few months ago the Daily Mail published photos from the set of the Ailes movie and noted that Theron was "all smiles" behind the scenes. The actress was seen laughing with crew members while cameras weren't rolling.
This idea of a celebrity being difficult to work with is a recurring theme in the tabloids. Gossip Cop recently busted Life & Style's sister publication, Star, for falsely claiming Margot Robbie was causing problems on the Birds of Prey set. Prior to that, we called out the National Enquirer for making up a story about Emma Watson being a "diva" on the set of every film she makes.
Gossip Cop also previously debunked a story claiming Drew Barrymore was throwing tantrums on the set of her Netflix series "Santa Clarita Diet." Theron is now the latest star being arbitrarily labeled "difficult." There's simply no truth to this latest take on the subject.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
