Is Charlize Theron really invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding? That’s the latest claim coming from one of this week’s tabloids, but Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight. We’re told it’s “not true.”

According to OK!, the “star-studded guest list” for Prince Harry and Markle’s upcoming wedding is being drafted, and Theron is “one of the first names on it.” A so-called “source” is quoted as telling the gossip magazine, “Charlize and Harry have known each other for years, they bonded over their passion for Africa.” The outlet’s supposed “insider” continues, “There was never anything romantic going on, but Harry has always looked to her for advice. He counts her as a firm friend.”

The publication’s alleged “source” is further quoted as saying, “[Markle has] heard a lot about [Theron] from Harry, and she knows Charlize is a devoted humanitarian, which she loves. Meghan is more than happy to have Charlize join her on her big day.” OK!’s questionable “insider” concludes, “Charlize is no doubt thrilled to be invited to the royal wedding.”

Although Theron was spotted with Prince Harry at a polo match in 2011, that doesn’t mean the actress is invited to the royal’s upcoming wedding at Windsor Castle in May. They’re not close “friends,” as it seems the polo match in England is the most time they’ve ever spent together and that was 7 years ago. Still, Gossip Cop investigated the wedding invitation claim, and a source close to Theron exclusively tells us the report is “not true.”

Also, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has corrected an outlet for publishing a bogus article about the guest list for Prince Harry and Markle’s wedding. We recently called OK!’s sister publication, Star, for falsely maintaining Kim Kardashian was angling for an invite to the couple’s nuptials. In that story, the magazine alleged the reality star was desperate to score a seat at the “social event of the year,” but the entire report was completely unfounded.

As for Theron, she’s all too familiar with OK! manufacturing tall tales about her. Last year, for instance, Gossip Cop busted the often discredited magazine when it untruthfully alleged Theron and her The Fate of the Furious co-star Vin Diesel were feuding. Much like that inaccurate claim, this latest one about the actress being invited to Prince Harry and Markle’s royal wedding is equally wrong.
