Charlize Theron and Alexander Skarsgard are not dating, despite several inaccurate reports making the rounds. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the romance rumors. We're told the two aren't an item.
According to Life & Style, the stars rekindled a romance while shooting the upcoming Seth Rogen comedy Flarsky after supposedly having dated in 2012. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "They've been flirting on set and hooking up. They're keeping it as private as they can, but it's hard to hide. They are both thrilled this romance is back on." It should be noted, it's never been confirmed that the two were a couple. The rumor briefly emerged six years ago after they were spotted with a group of other friends at Soho House in Hollywood.
Still, the outlet's supposed source says, "Charlize is a woman who knows what she wants and just goes for it. She did it with Alexander back then, and now she's done it again." From there, the questionable tipster says Skarsgard is attracted to the actress because she "cusses and has a wicked sense of humor," while she's drawn to him because he's "a serious guy, a deep thinker" and is "a movie buff just like her." The "insider" concludes that Theron is typically "skittish about becoming serious with anyone," but she's changing her tune for her co-star.
Here's where the tabloid's phony story falls apart. The magazine contends that the two are currently "flirting on set and hooking up," but Flarsky wrapped filming back in January, as Theron announced in an Instagram post. If the magazine's "source" really knew about the actress's personal life, then that person would be aware that she and Skarsgard finished shooting their movie nearly six months ago.
Meanwhile, Theron revealed she's single and has no interest in dating as recently as April. In an interview with Hello magazine, the actress admitted that dating "feels like more work than something I would really enjoy." She added, "I think I'll have to change that mindset before I start dating again." Based on Theron's own words and the timeline of events, the magazine's story just doesn't pan out.
It's also worth noting, gossip publications such as HollywoodLife and Woman's Day regurgitated the bogus romance rumors, but not a single legitimate news outlet has reported that Theron and Skarsgard are a couple. Regardless, Gossip Cop also checked in with a source close to the actress, who tells us on the condition of anonymity that she and Skarsgard aren't together.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
