Charles Manson has threatened Quentin Tarantino with a “gory death,” according to a report that seems to be nothing more than fake news. Gossip Cop has looked into the claim, and it appears the entire story, including a supposed handwritten “open letter” from Manson, is a complete fabrication.

The claim comes from the site YourNewsWire, which has been caught manufacturing fake news in the past. This time around, the highly suspect outlet maintains that “Manson has threatened that his followers will burn down the cinema that hosts the premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film about the Manson family murders, killing the director and all of the ‘vermin’ in attendance.” The article, of course, comes on the heels of reports in July that Tarantino has written and is set to direct a movie about the Manson family murders in August 1969, during which followers of Manson, also known as “the family,” killed everyone in a Los Angeles home, including actress Sharon Tate, who was eight months pregnant with husband Roman Polanski’s baby.

YourNewsWire now alleges that Manson sent a handwritten “open letter” to a man named James McEwan in which the cult leader purportedly voiced his “opposition” to Tarantino’s upcoming movie and threatened the director with a “gory death.” The alleged “letter” states in part, “To Quentin Tarantino, I’m SURE you don’t want whats coming for you. What you fantasize about is what I will do.” “I’m god, I’m the devil, I’m everything, I’m nothing at all. It’s time for you to REPENT… Redeem yourself and take your cotton pickin hands off my story,” continues the seemingly made-up missive. The Manson “letter” ends by supposedly warning, “my sick city girls will take care of you and your vermin, at your premiere my bastards will enact their revenge, you will burn like Hitler in Django.”

For the most part, the rest of the article quotes James McEwan stating what he believes Manson meant in his “letter.” McEwan allegedly tells the dubious website, “Manson has form. He’s done it before. I felt I had to make this public so I won’t be blamed for not warning him if something does end up happening.” It should be noted, however, that Gossip Cop was unable to find a connection between Manson and the James McEwan who supposedly was sent the “open letter.”

Of course, many questions are raised by this article. Why would a site with history of publishing fake news be given this story? And who is McEwan, how does he supposedly know Manson, and why did he share this alleged “open letter” with YourNewsWire, of all places? Gossip Cop reached out to the author of the story, but has yet to hear back. We expect we’ll get an answer about its veracity about the same time as when Manson is released from prison, which is in a week from never. Significantly, Gossip Cop investigated and the handwriting in the “open letter” from the mass murderer does not remotely match that of Manson’s penmanship.
