A new tabloid report claiming Halle Berry contributed to Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan's split is completely ridiculous. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this nonsense. A rep for Dewan tells us it's false.
According to Heat, however, Dewan wasn't happy about her estranged husband striking up a friendship with Berry on the set of their 2017 movie Kingsman: The Golden Circle. A so-called "source" contends that Dewan's alleged jealousy of her husband's co-star caused a lot of tension in their marriage. The magazine's supposed insider adds, "While there's no suggestion Channing did anything wrong, Jenna felt he was spending too much time with Halle when he could have been at home."
The publication hides behind an untraceable and seemingly nonexistent "insider," but Dewan's own spokesperson tells Gossip Cop on the record that these claims are untrue. The actress's rep adds, "It's beyond us that people have a hard time believing that women can co-exist on this planet and not be jealous of each other." Another source close to Dewan, who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity, adds, "[Jenna's] a fan of Halle's and thinks she's rad."
In fact, it was apparent that Dewan and Berry get along very well during an episode of "Live with Kelly and Ryan" last year. While Dewan was filling in for Kelly Ripa as co-host, Berry forced her to drink a glass of whiskey. Berry did so to get revenge on Tatum for making her chug a pint of bourbon during a Comic-Con panel for Kingsman: The Golden Circle. "Thanks, babe. I'm gonna have real fun doing the interview now," Dewan joked on-air after downing the whiskey.
Following the funny bit, Dewan revealed that Tatum had suggested she become friends with Berry. She noted, "In the 12 years of knowing Chan, he has never come back after a movie... and said, 'You've got to meet somebody.' He, like, friend-matched us." It's quite clear Dewan and Berry have a playful dynamic, but regardless, Gossip Cop can confirm that Tatum's Kingsman 2 co-star played no role in his breakup.
Additionally, Tatum and Dewan revealed in their joint separation statement earlier this month that "no secrets or salacious events" led to their split. The exes further explained they're still "best friends," but realized "it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible." The tabloid's drama involving Berry is completely fabricated.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
