Are Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan back together? That's the case according to one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the claim and we can exclusively debunk it.
"Jenna & Channing: The Divorce Is Off!" reads a headline in the latest issue of Star. The accompanying article says the recent death of Tatum's childhood friend made him realize he wanted to reunite with his estranged wife. In August, the actor posted an Instagram tribute to his late pal, and included the words, "It just made me need to remind everybody don't put off anything. Seeing a friend or even calling or texting."
The magazine is exploiting Tatum's kind sentiment by falsely claiming that he "took his own advice" and "picked up the phone and poured his heart out to Jenna." An alleged insider tells the magazine, "She was genuinely touched. One thing led to another and now they're back together."
The outlet's questionable source adds, "Channing apologized for all the stupid things he did. They both want to take it slow but it's going really well so far." The supposed tipster concludes, "He and Jenna don't want to go on without each other. They're holding on to their future and see each other in it."
The tabloid's premise is coming from an anonymous and seemingly nonexistent "insider," but Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Dewan, who tells us on the record it's not true. The estranged spouses haven't rekindled their romance following the death of the actor's childhood friend. The claim otherwise is entirely fabricated.
Meanwhile, People magazine reported a little over a week ago that Tatum and Dewan are both dating new people. The reliable celebrity news outlet said that neither has gotten serious with anyone yet, but both are back in the dating world. The publication also noted that the pair's divorce "is moving forward amicably" and they're in the process of "selling their Beverly Hills home and dividing up their other assets."
E! News, another reputable source for stories about celebrities, similarly confirmed that Tatum and Dewan are both "casually dating." The outlet added, "Jenna is feeling ready to move on and to get back out there," while her estranged husband is "just interested in meeting people and dating." There's not a single legitimate publication that has said anything about the two calling off their divorce. That's because it's still moving forward.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
