This is first time Chance The Rapper has performed on “Saturday Night Live.” He’s also the first independent artist to ever be the musical guest on the show. Chance The Rapper has never performed “Somewhere In Paradise” on live TV before.

The rapper has been hinting on social media for some time that he’s going to release a new album. It’s unclear if the track will be included on that album. Just hours before his “SNL” debut, Chance The Rapper tweeted, “#acidrap brought Chicago, my fans and independents this far. #ChanceOnSNL #thirdmixtape.”

Actually, Chance The Rapper spent several hours before performing on “Saturday Day Night Live,” retweeting fans and outlets that noted his groundbreaking appearance. Among the comments he retweeted was from comedian Will Miles, who wrote, “ People have to stop saying @chancetherapper is the first independent rapper to do SNL. He is the first independent musician period to do SNL.”
