On Friday’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the talk show host celebrated the 20th anniversary of the “coming out” episode of her self-titled ’90s sitcom, in which she publicly revealed she was gay for the first time. Celebrities are now congratulating DeGeneres for breaking down barriers with the iconic TV moment. See stars’ tweets below!

DeGeneres opened her monologue on Friday by telling the audience, “I’m Ellen and I’m gay,” before noting, “Twenty years ago I said that. It was a much bigger deal then.” The unprecedented moment on the ABC sitcom marked the first time a lead character came out on TV, and helped pave the way for more shows and characters representative of the LGBT community.

Oprah Winfrey and Laura Dern, both of whom made guest appearances on the 1997 episode, stopped by DeGeneres’ talk show on Friday to help her celebrate. Winfrey later posted a photo of her visit on Twitter, and added, “What a difference 20 yrs. makes! Then and now,” to which the talk show host responded, “I loved you then. I love you more now.”

Meanwhile, former first lady Michelle Obama posted a photo of her and DeGeneres competing in a pushup contest, along with the caption, “Hey, @TheEllenShow! I may have schooled you in pushups, but when it comes to courage and kindness, you are always a champ. #ThankYouEllen.” Jessica Biel expressed, “20 years ago @TheEllenShow made TV history. Congrats on the anniversary of your landmark episode. We love you!” And Jesse Tyler Ferguson said, “Congrats to Ellen DeGeneres on the 20th Anniversary of the historic #PuppyEpisode on her first sitcom.”
