Celebrities are reacting to the death of Walter Becker, Steely Dan’s lead guitarist. The musician and co-founder of the rock band died on Sunday at the age of 67. At this time, no cause of death has been provided. See Hollywood stars’ reaction tweets below.

The news of Becker’s death was announced on his official website. The musician’s bandmate Donald Fagen said of his late friend in a statement, “He was smart as a whip, an excellent guitarist and a great songwriter. He was cynical about human nature, including his own, and hysterically funny.” He added, “I intend to keep the music we created together alive as long as I can with the Steely Dan band.”

Among those commenting on Becker’s death is Patricia Heaton‏, who wrote, “#SteelyDan – the music of my life, and of our youngest, who love them so much we got him tix for his bday a few months ago. RIP #WalterBecker.” Rob Lowe expressed, “Steely Dan was/is one of my favorites. Melodic, hooky, knowingly smart. Truly iconic. Thank you Walter Becker. You brightened my world.” And Mark Ronson‏ tweeted, “Rest in peace WALTER BECKER, one half of the team I aspire to everytime I sit down at a piano. Thank you for your unparalleled contribution.”

Meanwhile, John Mulaney said, “Goodbye Walter Becker. Thank you forever. You created my absolute favorite music. And any major dude will tell you.” Joe Scarborough shared‏, “Walter Becker, RIP. Thanks for decades of great music. Helluva soundtrack to a lot of good times.” Ben Stiller wrote, “Walter Becker made so much great iconic music that I connected to when I was younger and still do now.” And Harry Shearer‏ offered, “Holy crap, Walter Becker has died (per NYT). Half of most amazing musical duo since Lennon/McCartney. RIP.”

Steely Dan fan Don Cheadle‏ tweeted lyrics from the band’s song “Black Cow”: “On the counter by your keys was a book of numbers and your remedies…” Judd Apatow said, “I have played no band more often or enjoyed any music more than Steely Dan. They have always made me deliriously happy. RIP Walter Becker.” And Howard Jones tweeted, “Sad to hear the death of Walter Becker of Steely Dan one of my all time fav musicians.
