Celebrities are reacting on Twitter to President Donald Trump’s visit to Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Some Hollywood stars are calling out the president for making a handful of questionable comments about the disaster during a press conference with local officials. See tweets below.

Trump lauded the relief efforts of Puerto Rican officials during a roundtable discussion on Tuesday, but he also seemingly blamed the island for impacting the federal budget. “I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you’ve thrown our budget a little out of whack because we’ve spent a lot of money on Puerto Rico,” Trump said. “And that’s fine. We saved a lot of lives.”

The president then went on to contrast the tragedy with Hurricane Katrina. He noted that Hurricane Maria’s death toll paled in comparison to “a real catastrophe like Katrina,” before asking one of the officials for their “death count.” Many celebrities are now taking issue with the president’s tone during his visit to the devastated territory, and are expressing their disdain on Twitter.

Josh Gad wrote, “Historically speaking, it’s always fascinating 2 remind myself that in my lifetime we elected both the 1st Black President & the 1st monster.” George Takei said, “Donald, the disaster in Puerto Rico IS a real catastrophe and your budget issues are NOT their fault. How about just stop talking. Just stop.” Billy Eichener stated. “What a fool. What an embarrassment.” And Patton Oswalt mocked Trump by imagining him saying, “You kooky Mexicans and your expensive hurricanes. This is Mexico, right?”

Meanwhile, Alyssa Milano stated, “I hate to tell you, @realDonaldTrump, but you’ve thrown our humanity out of whack.” Along with a video of Trump’s press conference, Judd Apatow expressed, “Register to vote! Impeach.” Will Arnett insisted the president’s comparison of hurricane death tolls was “cruel.” And Jesse Tyler Ferguson shared, “Probably the last thing people struggling to stay alive need to hear.” Gossip Cop will update as more celebrities react to Trump’s visit to Puerto Rico.
