Celebrities are reacting to President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement. See Hollywood stars’ tweets below.

During a speech in the White House Rose Garden on Thursday afternoon, Trump announced his determination to pull out of the international accord, which has been signed by 195 nations. The deal was put in place last year for countries to work together to combat global warming, but critics of the agreement argue it hurts the U.S. economy and hinders job growth for factory workers. As Gossip Cop reported, celebrities pleaded with Trump to stay in the Paris climate agreement earlier this week when it was first announced that the president was expected to withdraw from the accord.

Now, many celebrities are now slamming the president on Twitter for withdrawing from the effort to prevent climate change. Leonardo DiCaprio said, “Today, our planet suffered. It’s more important than ever to take action.” Former President Bill Clinton expressed, “Walking away from Paris treaty is a mistake. Climate change is real. We owe our children more. Protecting our future also creates more jobs.” Michael Moore wrote, “Trump just committed a crime against humanity. This admitted predator has now expanded his predatory acts to the entire planet.” Rosie Perez offered, “So disturbing. Just dumbstruck.” And Andy Cohen simply tweeted, “Wow.”

Meanwhile, Billy Eichner quipped, “So Kathy Griffin is more harmful to Barron Trump than global warming. Got it.” Paris Jackson tweeted, “oh great the united states officially no longer acknowledges climate change! ignorance is bliss i guess.. we’re all gonna die.” And Albert Brooks joked, “Trump now considering pulling out of the human race entirely.”

George Takei barbed, “Trump is having the U.S. pull out of the Paris Climate Accord. Too bad someone didn’t tell his father that he shoulda pulled out, too.” Alec Baldwin said, “All the world wants 2 address climate chg. Except the US. This country is being piloted in2 an iceberg by this deranged, infantile maniac.” And Josh Gad offered, “2017…the year science, reason and accountability died.”

John Legend insisted, “Trump is our national embarrassment.” Rosie O’Donnell wrote, “i must say it is hard to imagine he would compromise every person in his life. i can’t believe that – so heartbreaking – his own children.” Alyssa Milano noted, “There are only two other countries not in the Paris Climate Accord – Nicaragua and Syria.” And Chelsea Handler added, “I’m guessing that Donald Trump doesn’t see the irony in making his announcement to leave the Paris Agreement while standing in a garden.”

Mark Ruffalo wrote, “Shame on you @realDonaldTrump as people lose their lives, homes and economic opportunities to your childish refusal to honor #ParisAgreement.” Marlee Matlin called the decision “an extremely sad day for our children and generations to come.” Jeffrey Wright asked, “Couldn’t a clown with a giant hook come though the Rose Garden and snatch this puffed up, retrogressive, ignoramus away from that podium?” And Michael Ian Black joked, “Everybody calm down – there are A LOT of planets out there.”

Shailene Woodley encouraged her followers to “march this Thursday in #DC” to protest Trump’s decision. In response to Trump saying during his speech, ““I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris,” Amber Heard retorted, “It’s not Pittsburgh vs. Paris, it’s our Planet. Earth is the one place (for now) we all call home. #MakethePlanetGreatAgain.” And Zach Braff simply called the situation “embarrassing.” Gossip Cop will continue to update as more celebrities react to President Trump withdrawing the U.S. from the Paris climate agreement.
