Celebrities are reacting on Twitter to the Los Angeles Times article detailing a number of sexual harassment allegations against screenwriter and director James Toback. See stars’ reaction tweets below.

According to the scathing report, which was published Sunday morning, more than 30 women have come forward to accuse the well-known and “highly-respected” director of sexual harassment. His string of accusers, typically in their twenties at the time, claim they were sexually harassed by Toback in public parks and movie trailers. And similarly to the sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein, the screenwriter allegedly harassed women in hotel rooms, framing meetings as interviews or auditions.

Actress Adrienne LaValley, one of the 38 women who came forward, gave her shocking account to the publication. Speaking of her 2008 hotel room encounter with Toback, who allegedly tried to rub his crotch against her leg, she said, “The way he presented it, it was like, ‘This is how things are done.’ I felt like a prostitute, an utter disappointment to myself, my parents, my friends. And I deserved not to tell anyone.”

For his part, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter has denied the allegations, claiming he had never met any of the women who came forward, or if he did, it was for “5 minutes and have no recollection.” He also claimed that it had been “biologically impossible” for him to engage in the sexual behavior described by the women, noting he had diabetes and a heart condition.

One celebrity weighing in on the situation is Anthony Bourdain, who said, “Long overdue for this well known sack of [expletive].” Selma Blair, referring to an article posted by the Huffington Post in September about how Toback “gets” the modern woman, simply wrote, “Ironic.” And Asia Argento tweeted, “So proud of my sisters for bringing down yet another pig: James Toback.” Her comment received a like from Seth Rogen.

Rose McGowan expressed, “James Toback damn you for stealing, damn you for traumatizing.” “I had no idea James Toback objectified women until i watched like any of his movies from the past 20 years,” mocked John Fugelsang. Gossip Cop will continue to update as more celebrities react to the sexual harassment allegations against Toback.
