Celebrities are reacting to Ivanka Trump condemning the white supremacists and neo-Nazis responsible for the violence and death in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend. And while President Donald Trump’s daughter came down hard, tweeting on Sunday morning that “there should be no place in society for racism, white supremacy and neo-nazis,” a number of Hollywood stars are slamming her for not having her dad take a stronger stance. See reactions below to Ivanka’s tweets in relation to her father’s response.

As Gossip Cop reported, on Friday night a number of white nationalists and neo-Nazis marched on the University of Virginia campus, carrying torches as they shouted “white pride” and “white lives matter.” Then on Saturday, there was a “Unite The Right” rally, where racists spewed more bigoted hate. Near that gathering, a white supremacist from Ohio named James Alex Fields Jr. crashed a car into a crowd of counter-protestors, leaving dozens of demonstrators against the racists injured and killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer. Additionally, two Virginia state troopers died when their helicopter crashed as the surveilled Saturday’s protests from the sky.

Following the hate-filled weekend by the caucasian nationalists, Ivanka tweeted on Sunday, “There should be no place in society for racism, white supremacy and neo-nazis.” In a second message on Twitter, she wrote, “We must all come together as Americans — and be one country UNITED. #Charlottesville.” And while she clearly opposed the bigotry, some celebrities felt President Trump’s tweets did not go far enough. Among his remarks on social media was a note that read, “We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!”

Not long after Ivanka tweeted about there being “no place in society for racism, white supremacy and neo-Nazis,” Seth Rogen replied, “Tell this s**t to your dad.” Meanwhile, Sarah Silverman questioned, “Is it possible you aren’t aware that that’s literally your father’s base? Good God I know it’s wildly inconvenient but please open your eyes.” Olivia Wilde responded, “Correct, @IvankaTrump. How outraged and ashamed you must be to have a father who disagrees.”

Soleda O’Brien further expressed, “Hi @IvankaTrump: as nazi David Duke made clear yesterday ‘that’s why we voted for Donald Trump.’ Your father has created that ‘place.'” Ed Helms told the first daughter, “And by that same logic, there should also be no place in society for presidents too weak to say these same words in a timely manner.” And Josh Charles simply stated, “Unless the headline reads ‘Ivanka Trump responds to her father’s resignation’ I’m not interested.” Gossip Cop will continue to update as more celebrities react to Ivanka Trump’s tweets, which seemed to go farther than her dad’s condemnation of the white supremacists in Charlottesville.
