Celebrities are reacting to the death of Harry Dean Stanton, who died on Friday at the age of 91. See tributes and remembrances from stars on Twitter below.

Stanton’s death was announced by his agent, who said he passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of natural causes. Over his decades-long career, the character actor became a familiar face on both the big and small screens. Whether it was in Pretty In Pink or on “Big Love,” the star made an impact and had a following. In fact, David Lynch was such a fan, he worked with Stanton multiple times, including on “Twin Peaks: The Return,” which just finished airing on Showtime.

In a statement released via the show’s official Twitter account, Lynch expressed, “The great Harry Dean Stanton has left us. There went a great one. There’s nobody like Harry Dean. Everyone loved him. And with good reason. He was a great actor (actually beyond great) – and a great human being – so great to be around him!!! You are really going to be missed Harry Dean!!! Loads of love to you wherever you are now!!!”

Pretty In Pink star Jon Cryer shared a personal photo, tweeting with it, “Was an honor, man. #RIPHarryDeanStanton.” Another colleague, Olivia Wilde, posted, “Harry Dean Stanton was the definition of cool. On Alpha Dog, he wouldn’t leave a room w/o saying, ‘Love ya. Mean it.’ Such a great guy. RIP.” Andie McDowell expressed, “I loved Harry Dean Stanton!!! He was intelligent, sensitive and beloved #RIP.” Charlie Sheen wrote in his tribute, “Rest In Peace good sir. thank you for sharing your genius. xox.” Stephen King commented, “Harry Dean Stanton had the best line in CHRISTINE: ‘I’m selling’ this sh*thole and buyin’ a condo.’ Rest in peace, HD. You were great.” William Shatner simply said, “Condolences to the family of Harry Dean Stanton.”

“So long Harry Dean. Thank you for the gift of your films, your music & your being. God broke the mold on you. Rest In Peace. Poet,” Mark Ruffalo posted. Patton Oswalt wrote, “He’s heading north at 110 per. #RIPHarryDeanStanton.” Retweeting a photo of Stanton, Jessica Chastain said, “This face. What a beautiful human #paristexas.” Edward James Olmos tweeted, “Harry Dean you gave us so much truth on and off camera Thank you for living a full life! You are a great artist.” Noted Joss Whedon, “Never a dull moment. Can’t imagine telling him to rest.” Edgar Wright offered, “RIP to the legendary Harry Dean Stanton. Impossible to cover his legacy in brief but here’s a few favs: ‘Alien,’ ‘Paris Texas,’ ‘Repo Man.'” And John Carpenter said, “Harry Dean Stanton was a wonderful man, kind and full of humor.
