Celebrities are calling for stricter gun laws in the wake of the mass shooting in Las Vegas at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on Sunday. See stars’ tweets below.

As Gossip Cop reported, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock fired shots from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel towards the Route 91 country music festival late Sunday night, killing 50 people and injuring more than 400 in the worst mass shooting in American history. Jason Aldean, one of the festival’s main headliners, was performing when machine gunfire was heard, prompting hundreds of panicked concertgoers to flee the outdoor arena. In a video posted on social media, the country star and his band could be seen running off stage as the incident unfolded. Aldean’s team later confirmed he was safe.

The gunman, who is said to be a “local resident” of Las Vegas, was found dead in his hotel room with numerous firearms, including eight rifles. Now, in the hours after the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history, numerous celebrities are calling for stricter gun laws and expressing their outrage over the attack.

Among those commenting on the tragedy and discussing the need for tighter gun control is Alyssa Milano, who angrily said on Twitter, “Sensible gun control NOW.” Andy Cohen tweeted, “How about we ban machine guns?” The terrifying attack led Russell Simmons to write, “I will do everything in my power to get Congress to pass comprehensive gun reform so these types of tragedies don’t happen anymore.” And Elizabeth Banks stated, “It would be wise to ban assault weapons, high-capacity magazines and silencers. None of which is excessive.”

Gigi Hadid offered, “It sickens me the ease in which a TERRORIST can be sold a GUN. Is the ease really worth all these lives?! This needs to stop.” “I believe in prayer, but it’s not enough by itself. We need better LAWS. In no world does a CIVILIAN need a MACHINE GUN. Let’s fix this,” Emmy Rossum said. Will Arnett wrote, “Having a hard time trying to process the massacre in L.V. ENOUGH WITH THE F’ING GUNS.” Hillary Clinton tweeted, “The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots. Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.”

Billy Eichner urged, “GUN CONTROL NOW. ENOUGH ALREADY. GROW THE [EXPLETIVE] UP. THE AVERAGE PERSON DOESN’T NEED A [EXPLETIVE] MACHINE GUN. ENOUGH ALREADY. ENOUGH. ENOUGH.” Tom Arnold similarly said, “Stephen Paddock is a terrorist. Trump signed a bill allowing mentally ill easier access to guns. @NRA will sell more guns. #GunControlNow.” And Lady Gaga wrote, “This is terrorism plain and simple. Terror bares no race, gender or religion. Democrats & Republicans please unite now #guncontrol.”

Jessica Chastain expressed, “Man with an arsenal of at least 10 guns unloaded hundreds of rounds into a crowd. Its disgusting that we keep letting this happen. Shameful.” And Joe Biden offered, “How long do we let gun violence tear families apart? Enough. Congress & the WH should act now to save lives. There’s no excuse for inaction.” Gossip Cop will continue to update as more celebrities call for stricter gun control.
