Celebrities are reacting on Twitter to the death of legendary actor Martin Landau, who passed away Sunday at the age of 89. See Hollywood stars’ tweets and tributes below.

Landau’s career spanned more than 60 years, during which he appeared in nearly 200 movies and TV shows. He had memorable roles in such films as North by Northwest, Cleopatra, Rounders and Ed Wood, for which he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Prior to winning the award, he also nabbed Academy Award nominations for his roles in Francis Ford Coppola’s Tucker: The Man and His Dream and Woody Allen’s Crimes and Misdemeanors. One of Landau’s first major roles was a supporting part on the 1960’s “Mission: Impossible” TV series, for which he received a number of Emmys.

One celebrity mourning the veteran actor’s death is Alec Baldwin, who said, “Rest In Peace MARTIN LANDAU. So great in CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS, ED WOOD. Great in everything. I grew up watching and admiring MARTIN LANDAU.” Marlee Matlin offered, “So sad to read about the passing of Martin Landau. A great talent with a kind heart; always so warm to me. I will miss you. RIP.” And Ralph Macchio wrote, “RIP Martin Landau. ‘Crimes & Misdemeanors’ 1 of my all time fav performances. Such versatility in his vast work. A simply wonderful actor.”

“Bosch” star Titus Welliver expressed, “RIP Martin Landau. From Mission Impossible, Space 1999. So many films. An actors actor.” “Stranger Things” star David Harbour added, “The great Martin Landau has died. Long time member of the actor’s studio and brilliant craftsman in our tradition. I will miss his work.” And William Shatner conveyed, “Condolences to the family of Martin Landau.”

Patricia Arquette said, “Working with Martin Landau on Ed Wood was a joy. What a talented, sweet generous actor. #RealDeal.” Josh Gad wrote, “Now #MartinLandau is gone. Today is way too much. Please stop.” And Rob Schneider expressed, “Oh no! Martin Landau, I was just telling a story about working with you tonight at dinner! I LOVE YOU! I MISS YOU! I’m blessed that I knew U.”

Chris Rock offered, “The great Martin Landu has passed away. He’s great in so many movies but Crimes and Misdemeanors is his best in my opinion.” Brent Spiner noted, “Great actor, Martin Landau leaves us at age 89. So glad the part of Lugosi came to him. He crushed it. RIP.” Alyssa Milano stated, “Rest In Peace, Martin Landau.” And Elijah Wood wrote, “So long, Martin Landau. A rough day to have lost two legends,” also referring to the death of filmmaker George A. Romero.

Billy Eichner tweeted, “RIP Martin Landau. Crimes and Misdemeanors, one of my favorites.” Jeff Ross expressed, “Gonna miss seeing #MartinLandau around town. He loved hearing and telling a good joke – and was good pals with Buddy Hackett.” And Jim Carrey, who co-starred with Landau in The Majestic, wrote, “Much love sweet Martin.
