Celebrities are reacting to the death of Jerry Lewis. The legendary comedian died of natural causes on Sunday in Las Vegas at the age of 91. Now, a number of stars are reacting to the news that Lewis, who rose to fame in the late 1940s, is dead.

Josh Gad said, “One of the greatest of all time. A legend. A showman. A comedic icon. A movie star. An activist. A one of a kind. RIP #jerrylewis.” Ashley Greene wrote, “RIP to the legendary #JerryLewis. You entertained us until the end. Thoughts and prayers to your loved ones.” Patton Oswalt tweeted, “Jerry Lewis has passed on. I sincerely hope his afterlife is a warm, peaceful… haven.” And George Takei shared, “We have lost a great comedian and even greater heart. Thank you for the laughs and the feels, Jerry Lewis.”

Meanwhile, magician Penn Jillette offered, “Jerry Lewis just died. When I met him, I fell apart, just sobbed. I guess it’s time for that again.” He added, “How did my life get good enough that Jerry Lewis would smile at me? And how sad to lose him. Goodbye to the real, no irony, king of comedy.” William Shatner tweeted, “Condolences to the family of Jerry Lewis. The world is a lot less funnier today.” And Russell Simmons said, “Watched Nutty Professor over and over and over again as a kid. Got to meet and hang with the legend who made it. #jerrylewis. Rip.”

Whoopi Goldberg tweeted, “Jerry Lewis passed today, millions around the world loved him, millions of kids he helped w/his telethons. R.I.P.& condolences 2 his family,” before adding, “I realize I may be late with all this but all know is, losing Dick Gregory & Jerry Lewis is a gain 4 heaven, but big loss for comedy.” Paula Abdul said, “I’m so heartbroken that Jerry Lewis passed away. His buddy films w/ Dean Martin are still some of my all-time favorites.” And Sean Hayes stated, “We lost one of the great ones today…possibly the greatest. Jerry Lewis was one of my comedy heroes & was a gigantic inspiration to me. I am so grateful to have shared some valuable time with him. RIP #JerryLewis.”

Jim Carrey wrote, “That fool was no dummy. Jerry Lewis was an undeniable genius an unfathomable blessing, comedy’s absolute!
