Celebrities are reacting to Donald Trump not attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. See reaction tweets from Hollywood stars below.

As Gossip Cop has reported, the WHCD is an annual spring event that brings together politicians, members of the press corps, and celebrities. But President Trump’s attacks on the media have led a number of outlets to suggest they may not participate in the upcoming celebration. Vanity Fair, Bloomberg, and the New Yorker for instance, have canceled their usual after-parties.

There was also a question as to whether any high-profile comedian would sign on to host the event, and if Trump would be willing to get roasted, as per tradition. Others wondered what kind of speech the president would make, given that he decries “fake news” practically every day, often calling out many of the publications that would typically be in attendance. But now Trump himself will not even be there.

He tweeted on Saturday afternoon, “I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner this year. Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!” The announcement comes just one day after certain media outlets were banned from a White Press briefing.

A number of celebs reacted on Twitter to that on Friday, and now they’re reacting to this latest development. Zach Braff asked, “Does this mean the parties are back on?” He then tweeted, “.@AlecBaldwin time to suit up.” Arsenio Hall simply expressed, “WHAT!?” And Don Cheadle quipped, “Winner winner, chicken dinner …”

Kathy Griffin wrote, “Shhhh. This is r big chance! We sneak in #Obama & #Hillary, tell Trump he’s ‘president of United States of Mar-a-Lago’ & #resist #Indivisible.” Samantha Ronson said, “Well- this is gonna be fun, now.” She then announced, “I am now available to dj any and all parties.” Alyssa Milano remarked, “Trump is rsvp’ing ‘will not attend.'” Jessica Chastain noted, “#WHCD raises money for scholarships for young journalists, just as it has every year since 1921 #FreedomOfThePress #NoPropagandaPress.”

“HAHAHAHA WHAT A SNOWFLAKE,” exclaimed Billy Eichner. And Rosie O’Donnell replied to Trump’s tweet, saying, “seriously – u need to get help.” Samantha Bee has already announced plans to hold the first-ever “Not The White House Correspondents’ Dinner” the same night, which will benefit the Committee to Protect Journalists. The actual White House Correspondents’ Dinner is still slated to take place on April 29, even though Trump will be the first president in 30 years to skip it.
