Celebrities are reacting to Donald Trump defending his son Donald Jr. for taking a meeting with a Russian lawyer. See Twitter reaction tweets from Hollywood stars below.

As Gossip Cop has reported, it was recently revealed that Don Jr. was contacted during the presidential election last year about the Russian government wanting to aid his father’s campaign. He was specifically asked to meet with a Russian lawyer, who was offering information about opponent Hillary Clinton. Don Jr. went to the meeting, along with Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort and several others. News of this gathering comes after the Trumps have spent months decrying claims they colluded with Russia during the election.

While stars previously slammed Don Jr. over the Russia debacle, now a number of famous names are taking issue with the president for downplaying the situation. On Sunday Trump tweeted, “Hillary Clinton can illegally get the questions to the Debate & delete 33,000 emails but my son Don is being scorned by the Fake News Media?” He said in another tweet, “With all of its phony unnamed sources & highly slanted & even fraudulent reporting, #Fake News is DISTORTING DEMOCRACY in our country!”

And on Monday, the president posted, “Most politicians would have gone to a meeting like the one Don jr attended in order to get info on an opponent. That’s politics!” Judd Apatow asked in response, “Would he have gone if N Korea wanted a meeting? Would that have been politics as usual? You are a very corrupt person. It’s sad.” Clearly fired up, the producer went on to exclaim, “DON SAID HE DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS ABOUT HILLARY THEN ADMITTED HE LIED THE NEXT DAY. YOU RAISED A LIAR.”

Star Jones commented, “No other adult child of a candidate for #POTUS would EVER seek #Russian Gov opo on an opponent & if they did I’d want their head on a stick.” She also said in reply to the president’s tweet, “I’m convinced. The #POTUS must have been dropped on his head as a baby. Maybe I’ll ask his brother…” “House of Cards” creator Beau Willimon wrote back to Trump, “This is false. Because it’s illegal. And if you thought there was nothing wrong with it, why lie about it for over a YEAR? Non-stop con.

“You can’t blame ‘fake news’ for the writing in black and white by your own son. @realDonaldTrump the only one guilty of ‘fake news’ is you,” tweeted Chelsea Handler. Noting an article titled “The List of Participants In Russian Lawyer Meeting Just Keeps Growing,” Arsenio Hall amusingly added, “…Stacy Dash, Boondock’s Uncle Ruckus, Lee Garrett from the Bachelorette, Russian actor Boris Badenough & Chris Christie’s beach chair!” Sophia Bush retweeted MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin, who said in response to Trump’s defense, “FYI the Gore campaign was given the Bush campaign’s debate prep book in 2000. They called the FBI.”

Mark Ruffalo also retweeted ThinkProgress editor Judd Legum, who sarcastically remarked, “‘Made in America’ week off to a strong start.” And Rosie O’Donnell shared Keith Olbermann’s reply, in which he wrote, “So YOU would have gone to it? You did, didn’t you?” Interestingly, the president’s excuse that Don Jr.’s meeting was just “politics” echoes Caitlyn Jenner’s defense of Trump’s Russian ties on “The View.” As Gossip Cop reported, she said on the ABC talk show last Thursday, “Politics is a dirty business. Let’s be honest… Everyone’s talking to everybody.” She added, “It doesn’t bother me.”
