Celebrities are reacting to Donald Trump accusing Barack Obama of wire tapping Trump Tower before the presidential election. See reaction tweets from Hollywood stars below.

On Saturday morning, the new president fired off a flurry of tweets about the former president. Trump said, “Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!” He went on, “Is it legal for a sitting President to be ‘wire tapping’ a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!”

Trump continued, “I’d bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election! How low has President Obama gone to tap [sic] my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!”

The bold accusations, without any indication of evidence, led a number of celebs to react on Twitter. Zach Braff shared a screengrab of Trump’s tweets, and joked, “Tries acid once.” More seriously, he added, “He will do anything to distract from the Russia story. Journalists who weren’t fooled by a new suit and temp tone can’t stop digging.”

Patton Oswalt also posted a photo of the messages, saying, “We’re three days away from Donald claiming he can control the weather. This is ‘admitted to Bellevue’ level crazy.” He went on to write, “Eventually Trump WON’T send a series of nutty Tweets at 3am. Instead, he’ll launch nukes. He won’t get less crazy, you know that.” Paul Wesley also told Trump, “You are attempting to distract people from your scandal ridden mess of a presidency. Not fooling anyone.”

Sophia Bush shared a Slate article with her followers, insisting, “Read this. Important clarifications. Pres Dipsh*t is tweeting fake news from Breitbart. Let’s discuss actual facts.” She later offered another article on the matter, tweeting, ‘NO evidence. If it DID ‘that means a FED judge…found that…DJT cmtd a crime or was an agent of a foreign power.'” Meanwhile, Stephen King joked, “Obama tapped Trump’s phones IN PERSON! Went in wearing a Con Ed coverall. Michelle stood guard while O spliced the lines. SAD!

John Fugelsang cracked, “‘Trump Tower’ is trending but only because ‘once again provides no evidence to support his claim’ was too long.” Rosie O’Donnell commented, “He is a very sick untreated mentally ill 70 yr old man #impeach #treason #unstable #craycray.” Lily Allen wrote back to Trump, “October you say? Around the same time that spy Christopher Steele found out about your Russia connections. Strange.”

“Sweetie you just make sh*t up and tweet it. Get some sleep. Play even more golf. Have Melania read to you. Do something,” Andy Cohen wrote to Trump. George Takei posted, “Donald, if your phones were being tapped, it was only because you were running Trump Tower like it was Moscow on the Hudson.” “Rainn Wilson also mocked the situation by tweeting, “Obama broke into my house & took a dump in my toaster oven!”

Zoe Kazan told the president, “I think you may need McCarthyism explained to you.” Michael Moore remarked, “As the paranoia now grows at an extreme rate, the sociopath becomes a psychopath and the country – the planet – faces a painful decision…” Sarah Silverman sarcastically said, “The good news is paranoid sociopaths in positions of power always works out great!”

And Katie Couric simply noted to followers, “While you were sleeping…” She added, “Oh and then there’s this.” The latter was in reference to another tweet, in which Trump claimed Arnold Schwarzenegger was “fired” from “Celebrity Apprentice.” Ben Stiller remarked in reaction to that same tweet, “Just in from the President of the United States of America,” while Samantha Ronson reminded him, “You lost the popular vote.”
