Celebrities are reacting to the news that FBI Director James Comey has asked the Department of Justice to reject President Donald Trump’s claim that Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower before the presidential election. See Hollywood stars’ tweets below.

As Gossip Cop reported on Saturday, Trump tweeted accusations about Obama wiretapping his phones before the election, but there’s no evidence to back up these claims, says the FBI Director. On Sunday, Comey asked the DOJ to “publicly reject” the allegations, saying they’re “false and must be corrected.”

Among the celebrities weighing in on the controversy is Rosie O’Donnell, who tweeted, “Comey Asks Justice Dept. 2 Reject Trump come[y] seems to have found his moral compass? comey to the rescue? #russia.” George Takei wrote, “FBI’s Comey has asked the Justice Dept to publicly reject Trump’s unsupported allegations about Obama wire taps. This is Comey. Trump’s Pal.” Meanwhile, Chuck Woolery countered, “#Obama used #PoliceStateTactics on T#rump to try to preserve his Legacy and Defeat him. Way beyond DIRTY TRICKS. FBI, CIA, NSA, TREASURY.”

Albert Brooks taunted, “Now that Trump’s man Comey has called him a liar is this the straw that broke the Republicans back? Man the exits.” Ron Howard simply retweeted the New York Times’s headline, “Comey Asks Justice Dept. to Reject Trump’s Wiretapping Claim.” Referencing James Snowden, who leaked NSA documents, Danny Devito seemingly suggested a desire for another whistleblower to clear up what’s going on with his tweet that stated, “There’s got to be another Snowden!” Gossip Cop will continue to update as more Hollywood stars offer their reactions.
