Celebrities are reacting to the news that Bill Paxton is dead. The actor, best known for his roles in Apollo 13, Aliens, and Titanic, died on Saturday at the age of 61. Paxton was currently starring on the CBS show “Training Day” when he passed away. See Hollywood stars’ reactions below to Paxton’s death.

On Sunday, Paxton’s family released a statement that reads, “It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery.” Gossip Cop has learned that following a heart operation, Paxton died from a stroke. After noting how his career spanned four decades, the statement continues, “Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable.” Paxton, who won an Emmy for his work on the miniseries “Hatfields & McCoys,” is survived by two children, James and Lydia, and his wife of nearly 30 years Louise Newbury.

Tom Hanks tweeted, “Bill Paxton was, simply, a wonderful man. A wonderful man.” Charlize Theron wrote, “You were a great friend to me, Bill. AND one of the finest actors to share a set with. Sending so much love to Bill Paxton’s family.” “Crushing. #RIPBillPaxton A gr8 talent & spirit. His passion contributed so much 2 #Apollo13 & all his wrk. Jamie Lee Curtis exclaimed, “Nooooo. Bill Paxton is gone. Such a funny, talented, loving human.
