Celebrities are taking to social media to thank Barack Obama for his support, leadership and kindness throughout his 8-year presidency. See stars’ tweets below.

In a series of tweets on Friday morning, Obama addressed his Twitter followers for the final time as “@POTUS,” sending an encouraging message of optimism and hope as he steps down as president. “It’s been the honor of my life to serve you. You made me a better leader and a better man. I won’t stop; I’ll be right there with you as a citizen, inspired by your voices of truth and justice, good humor, and love,” he wrote. “I’m still asking you to believe – not in my ability to bring about change, but in yours. I believe in change because I believe in you.”

Mindy Kaling tweeted, “Thank you @BarackObama. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Rob Schneider offered, “Thank you, Mr. President @BarackObama for your eight years of service to our country.” Josh Gad wrote, “@BarackObama and @MichelleObama, thank you for steadfast leadership and for your unwavering message of hope. You will be greatly missed.” Russell Simmons said, “#ThankYouObamas for showing the world the beauty of family.” And Christina Applegate expressed, “Thank you to @BarackObama and @FLOTUS for being who you are. You are high class. Invite, I have Oscar screeners if you want to come over.”

Paris Jackson said, “@BarackObama i love you don’t leave us.” Melissa Joan Hart wrote in an Instagram post, “Thank you to @barackobama @michelleobama and @vp #JoeBiden for all of the achievements, goals and accomplishments our country underwent during your watch. Your love of the country and of her people was always apparent and shows in your legacy.” Vivica Fox offered on Twitter, “GM! Time to say goodbye to the BEST President EVER!! @BarackObama n @MichelleObama will TRULY be missed! THANKS for everything! U ROCK!”

Jessica Chastain expressed, “Obamas- Thank you for your service to this country.” Dick Van Dyke tweeted, “Thank you, Obama!! @POTUS @FLOTUS @JoeBiden.” John Legend commented, “#ThankYouObamas. I’m proud to know you. Proud to have supported you. Thank you for your wisdom, grace and service to your country.” Ellen DeGeneres stated, “.@POTUS @BarackObama, you changed our world. #ThankYouObama.” She also shared a video of LGBT stars thanking him. With a photo of himself raising a glass, Patrick Stewart tweeted, “Here’s to you Mister President @BarackObama.”

“My president is black…feels good to say. Thank you for all you’ve done and all you represent. #ThankyouObama,” posted Zoe Saldana. Mandy Moore tweeted, “Endlessly grateful to @BarackObama for everything he is & has done for this country. We will not stop fighting for what is right.” Jesse Tyler Ferguson wrote, “Certainly my favorite 8 years. Thank you @BarackObama & @FLOTUS44.” On Instagram, Khloe Kardashian posted, “Terribly sad to see you go but honored I was able to watch firsthand. I hope our history books will do you justice.” Miley Cyrus declared on her page, “I love you so much! @barackobama.”

Brooklyn Decker expressed on Twitter, “Thank you, Obamas, for demonstrating a shining example of family and morality.” Leonardo DiCaprio wrote, “Thank you @BarackObama for all you’ve done to protect our planet. I look fwd to what’s to come w/ @ObamaFoundation.” Paul Wesley posted a picture of the First Couple, tweeting, “One last pic of these two. Grateful for the last 8 years.” And Julia Louis-Dreyfus simply said, “Thank you, @BarackObama.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger looked toward the future and the past, saying, “President Obama, thank you for your service. President Trump, congratulations and good luck.” Larry King similarly tweeted, “Farewell @BarackObama & @MichelleObama and hello to the new @POTUS @realdonaldtrump & @FLOTUS Mrs. Trump. #Inauguration.” And, sharing a picture of herself with Obama, Gabourey Sidibe even said, “I rebuke the Trump presidency. Y’all can have Mr Burns for a president if you want but I’m going to live in this photo forever.”
