Catherine Zeta-Jones is not furious about Michael Douglas supposedly reuniting with Basic Instinct co-star Sharon Stone on an upcoming project, despite a made-up report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. We're told there's no truth to it.
According to the National Enquirer, Douglas is eager to team up with Stone again, but the actor's wife is in a jealous rage over the idea. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "If a project between them does get off the ground, Catherine will be watching them like a hawk. But you can rest assured she will do everything in her power to make sure it never happens."
The outlet's questionable insider continues, "The last thing she wants is competition from a woman as beautiful as Sharon." Meanwhile, Douglas has supposedly been binge-watching Stone's new HBO series "Mosaic," and seeing the actress on screen "has inspired him to reach out to her again about reconnecting as co-stars." The supposed source further contends that Zeta-Jones "knows all about their old chemistry and doesn't want to let Michael have the chance to see if it's still there."
Gossip Cop, however, is assured by a rep for Zeta-Jones that the tabloid's report is simply "ridiculous." We're told that Douglas hasn't reached out to Stone about reuniting for a film, so this entire article is based on a false premise. Additionally, the assertion that Zeta-Jones is jealous of her husband's former co-star is baseless. Stone even helped pay tribute to Douglas when he received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2009, and Zeta-Jones isn't at all bothered by their friendship.
It's also worth noting, this isn't the first time we've had to call out the Enquirer for falsely claiming that Zeta-Jones has jealousy issues. We previously busted the tabloid for wrongly reporting that the actress thought Douglas was getting "too close" to Ant-Man co-star Evangeline Lilly. The unreliable outlet has also alleged many times over the years that the famous spouses were getting divorced.
The tabloids enjoy creating nonexistent celebrity love triangles, which is seemingly why Stone has been arbitrarily roped into Douglas and Zeta-Jones's marriage. However, there's simply no truth to the publication's account of events. This is a non-story.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
