A tabloid report claiming Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas’ marriage is in trouble because he’s “crushing” on Michelle Pfeiffer is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus story. A rep for the couple denies it, and there’s plenty of evidence on social media proving their relationship is going strong.

According to the Globe, Douglas is infatuated with his Ant-Man and the Wasp co-star, to the point where it’s threatening his nearly 18-year marriage. An alleged “insider” tells the magazine, “He’s acting like a lovesick schoolboy. He says it’s harmless, but he’s Silly Putty around Michelle. He’s obviously having a late-life crush on her.”

It should be noted, Pfeiffer has been married to TV producer David E. Kelley for almost 25 years, so the tabloid is basically suggesting that Douglas would consider leaving his wife to pursue a married woman. Regardless, the outlet’s report is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but a rep for the couple says on the record that the article is fabricated and Pfeiffer hasn’t come between them. The spokesperson also notes that Douglas just visited his wife in Atlanta on the set of her upcoming TV show before traveling to Europe to promote Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Just last week, Zeta-Jones shared an Instagram photo of her and Douglas meeting for the first time at the Deauville Film Festival in August 1998. Along with a photo of the two in mid-conversation, the actress joked, “Can’t remember what he was talking about.” The actress wasn’t merely commemorating a wedding anniversary or a birthday, but instead went out of her way to reminisce about the first time she and her husband met 20 years ago. It’s quite apparent the actress is very happily married after all these years.

It’s possible this article was written simply because Douglas praised Pfeiffer in an interview with Metro last month. The actor told the newspaper, “We got on – I had never met her before, and it was the first time we had worked together but she is my kind of lady, she’s great, boom, cool, smart, witty…” Complimenting a co-star isn’t the same thing as having a major “crush” on her.

For instance, Paul Rudd also gushed about working with Pfeiffer in the Ant-Man sequel, and the publication isn’t accusing him of having romantic feelings towards her. The Globe’s article is just another example of a tabloid wrongly alleging that a celebrity couple is on the verge of a split over one of their co-stars, which is a tired narrative that’s frequently repeated by the gossip media.
