Mike Fisher did not "walk out" on Carrie Underwood, despite a new tabloid cover story. Although this article claims the couple could be headed toward a divorce, the allegations are untrue. Gossip Cop can bust the report.
The new cover of Star announces, "Carrie Underwood's Heartbreak." Inside the issue, the gossip magazine contends, "With her hockey hubby skating out of retirement after only six months, a blindsided, bruised Carrie Underwood is hitting her breaking point." The story alleges the singer's "world is crashing down around her" due to Fisher's return to the NHL after retiring last year.
"Carrie was convinced that Mike was done with hockey and thought he'd be happy as a stay-at-home dad," a so-called "source" is quoted as saying. But the outlet's supposed snitch alleges Fisher "realized he made a huge mistake" and decided to stage a comeback, "despite Carrie's protests." Prior to the decision, the publication asserts the couple was "trying to get their marriage back on track" following a "dark year" and "rumors of strife."
With Fisher supporting Underwood following her November accident, "they became stronger than ever for a while," claims the aforementioned "source," but "now it seems like their marriage is falling apart." The purported tipster goes on to contend, "As soon as Carrie started to feel better, Mike began plotting his return to hockey." The magazine alleges that led to "one of their worst fights ever."
"Mike walked out. Carrie was convinced he'd choose her over hockey... It's like he won't give it up for anything, even his wife and kid," maintains the questionable insider. Alleging Fisher "made this decision without her," the "source" claims to the outlet that Underwood is "secretly heartbroken." Adds this specious snitch, "If he doesn't change his ways, Mike could lose her forever... Right now it looks like Carrie could end up a single mom."
But it doesn't appear a split is actually on the horizon. As seen in the screengrab below, Fisher himself recently told fans on Instagram that he and Underwood have "never been better." And when Fisher announced he was coming out of retirement, he explained how it was his wife who pushed him back to the sport. In addition, Underwood has celebrated Fisher's return on Instagram, even sharing merchandise inspired by his comeback. "These. Are. Amazing," she wrote in a post earlier this month about a T-shirt with her husband's likeness on it.
As for those "rumors of strife," Star fails to acknowledge that it was responsible for spreading such misinformation. It was nearly a year ago that the publication ran a cover story claiming the "American Idol" winner was "trapped in a bad marriage" Then in August, the tabloid peddled an untruthful narrative about Underwood forcing Fisher to retire so they could "save" their marriage and have a second child. To date, no one has confirmed she is pregnant. What can be confirmed is Fisher never "walked out" on his wife, and the magazine seems to be continuing its fictional saga with more falsehoods.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
