Carrie Underwood’s husband Mike Fisher did not break his silence and confirm a “divorce.” He actually did the opposite, debunking the false split claim. Gossip Cop can bust this misleading story and explain what’s going on.

Earlier this month, In Touch published a cover story wrongly alleging Underwood and Fisher were headed for a divorce. The tabloid claimed the couple was at a “breaking point,” in large part due to the NHL player ending his retirement and returning to the Nashville Predators. A so-called “source” was quoted as saying, “His decision put a huge strain on their marriage.” These allegations, however, were totally bogus. As Gossip Cop pointed out, it was actually Underwood who urged Fisher to come out of retirement.

The singer was and is fully supportive of her husband’s career, and they are united in his plans to rejoin the sport. Gossip Cop was also assured by a source that they weren’t having any marital problems. But now nearly two weeks later, the gossip magazine is still promoting its untrue narrative. What’s more, though, is that it is deceptively leading fans to believe Fisher confirmed a divorce is moving forward.

“Mike Fisher Breaks His Silence Following News of Carrie Underwood Divorce,” reads the suggestive headline on the outlet’s website. The publication notes Fisher made an Instagram post with the biblical verse, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” He wrote in the caption, “One of my new favorite verses because I need this reminder daily!”

The tabloid concludes that it makes “sense that he would turn to this verse during his own difficult time as he’s going through a breakup.” The magazine then regurgitates its falsehoods from the aforementioned cover story. But Fisher is not “going through a breakup,” and his choice of verse was not intended to confirm any kind of a split. In fact, he actually made that clear in the comments section.

As seen in the screengab below, a fan wrote in response to Fisher’s post, “Praying for you and Carrie. Ignore the media! Hold tight to each other. There are always bumps in the road. Keep focusing on Jesus! He will guide you thru!” Fisher replied, “That’s not media. We’ve never been better. Thanks.” So, far from breaking his silence and confirming a divorce, he actually refuted it, thereby confirming Gossip Cop’s bust.

And we must say, we appreciate Fisher insisting that tabloid rumors are “not media.” The articles from gossip magazines are often case studies in faux journalism and fake news, not legitimate reporting. This is a clear example.
