Carrie Ann Inaba Mom Matron Honor

Carrie Ann Inaba asked her mom to be her matron of honor during Tuesday’s “Live with Kelly and Ryan.” Check out the sweet video below!

Inaba, who has appeared on the ABC talk show many times, was guest co-hosting today while Kelly Ripa is on vacation. With her mom sitting in the audience, the “Dancing with the Stars” judge brought up the topic of bridal parties, sharing a viral story about one bride’s “outrageous selection process” for her bridesmaids. Inaba explained, “She has requested her friends to bid to be her bridesmaids, including her maid of honor, [who] has to do it as well. The spots will go to the six highest bidders.”

“I don’t get that,” Inaba exclaimed. “That is horrible. I would never do that. But, you know, I’m actually in the process of choosing my bridesmaids, and it is hard, because you have, like, your OG friends, like I have my friends from Hawaii, and then I have my friends from L.A., and then I have my family friends. And then I have my mom.”

The pro dancer then looked directly at her mother in the crowd, and told her, “I wanted to ask mom, would you be my matron of honor?” Inaba’s mother immediately teared up and stood up in shock as her daughter came over to embrace her. “Is that a yes?” the TV personality asked. She then amusingly wondered, “Was that a for-real ‘yes’ or a TV ‘yes?'” Inaba’s crying mother confirmed it was very much a real “yes.”

Interestingly, and maybe awkwardly, this is not the first time “Live” has played a role in Inaba’s would-be nuptials. In 2011, her then-boyfriend Jesse Sloan staged a surprise proposal on the show, but the couple split the following year. Then last December, Inaba became engaged to Robb Derringer, whom she’s now set to wed. Inaba has not revealed her wedding date, but at least she can check picking a matron of honor off her to-do list. Watch the video below!
