Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan appeared live on the “Today” show on Thursday to discuss their new movie, Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets. See the video below of their interview.

The sci-fi film, which also features Rihanna in a small role, is based on the French comic Valerian and Laureline. Director Luc Besson independently adapted the story for the big screen, and the dazzling visuals have already won raves. Set in the 28th century, Delevingne and DeHaan star as agents who guard against those trying to manipulate space and time.

On the “Today” show, Willie Geist asked the actors to “help me explain the world” viewers will be “stepping into.” DeHaan responded, “It takes place in the year 2763, and most of it takes place on this space station, Alpha. It’s like as if the space station of today has grown and grown and grown so people from all around the world, and aliens from all around the universe, are living together in peace and harmony for the greater good.”

Delevingne revealed, “90 percent of the time it was CGI. It was actually really amazing for us because it was a lot of using your imagination. It’s like being a kid again, and with Luc, the extent of his knowledge… He’s been wanting to make this film his entire life, so there was a lot of things to work from. He made sure that we were prepared as much as possible. It was actually just so incredible.”DeHaan added that technology has “finally caught up” with Besson’s imagination, and Delevingne said of seeing the finished film, “Our expectations were completely blown out of the water.”

They were also asked about working with Rihanna, prompting the actor to remark, “She’s amazing. She worked so hard. She was filming our movie during the day and she was finishing her album at night.” “So she really works around the clock, and to see her come on the set and kind of turn everything off and focus on being an actress,” DeHaan continued. “She’s so good in the movie.” Check out the video below!
