Does Cara Delevingne have a "creepy crush" on Rihanna? That's what one of the tabloids wants readers to believe. Gossip Cop looked into the story.

The article can be found in the current issue of Star, which blares in a headline, "BFF Blowup: Cara's Creepy Crush On Rihanna." According to the tabloid, Delevingne's "crush on pal Rihanna has gotten her excommunicated from the singer's inner circle, and it's been making press for their flick Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets an awkward nightmare." A supposed "source who worked on the film" claims to the gossip magazine, "They smiled and posed together on the red carpet, but then Rihanna kept her distance later."

"They used to be really close but when Cara said she had feelings for Ri, things went south," continues the supposed source, who unnaturally switches between "Rihanna" and "Ri" throughout the story. Suspiciously, the outlet's purported tipster also doesn't say when Delevingne allegedly confessed her feelings, or how Rihanna reacted at the time. Still, the specious "source" goes on to contend, "Cara can be really intense and obsessive. She'll just stare and stare at Rihanna and it makes Ri uncomfortable."

It seems this tall tale was actually written solely because of a photo Star found of an unsmiling Rihanna posing with Delevinge at one of the film's premieres. Because of the camera angle, it appears as if the model is staring at the songstress' chest. Its inclusion is meant to be proof that Delevingne will "just stare and stare" and Rihanna is "uncomfortable." But if that were true, and if the two were actually no longer friends, then why did Rihanna recently share a picture of herself on Instagram with the model?

Furthermore, the snapshot that Rihanna posted, tagging Delevingne in the caption, was actually taken one day after the one featured in the tabloid. Clearly, if Rihanna was bothered by any of their interactions, or a supposed crush confession by Delevingne, she wouldn't have celebrated their friendship on social media. From everything Gossip Cop has gathered when we investigated this article, the pair are still close friends, and this claim about a "creepy crush" coming between them is simply nonsense.

It should be, Star has also falsely linked Delevingne romantically to Kendall Jenner, Margot Robbie and Amber Heard. Gossip Cop would venture that what's actually creepy is how the magazine continually makes up stories about her love life.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
