Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are not expecting twin girls, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. We've learned the actress isn't pregnant.
The cover of this week's OK! Australia says the spouses of four years recently decided to have a baby and got the surprising news that they have two on the way. A supposed source tells the magazine, "Cameron and Benji finally agreed to have IVF treatments last year and on her sixth round, she got pregnant with twins. She and Benji are thrilled and she's totally ready for twin troubles, thanks to Benji's coaching."
Of course, the Good Charlotte rocker has a twin brother who's also his bandmate, but the "insider" says "there's a twist" for Diaz and Madden because they're "having girls." The questionable tipster goes on to say Diaz became inspired to have kids after spending time with her brother-in-law Joel, his wife Nicole Richie and their two children.
"Benji feels like having these babies will be the best thing that ever happened to them," adds the seemingly phony source. "Cameron is so excited and all she talks about with her bestie Nicole is how she'll need her help with all things parenting related." The "insider" further contends that Richie has already "sat down with Cameron and planned out everything her pal will need for the first year, from pacifiers to blankets and beyond." The suspicious source also maintains that Diaz's other famous friends, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Drew Barrymore, "will be on hand for advice and support."
The tabloid's report is completely fabricated. Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but assures us Diaz and Madden aren't expecting twins. It's worth noting, Diaz has stated in interviews that she doesn't plan on having kids. "It's so much more work to have children," the actress told Esquire a few years ago. "To have lives besides your own that you are responsible for - I didn't take that on." Diaz further noted she "was never drawn to being a mother."
It should be mentioned, Gossip Cop busted the American edition of OK! back in 2016 for falsely claiming Diaz and Madden's marriage was in trouble because the actress was struggling to conceive a child. The spouses weren't trying to have a baby and never split over a nonexistent scenario. This latest report about the couple expecting twin girls is more fiction.
Update: On January 3rd, 2020, Diaz announced via Instagram that she and Madden had a baby girl, named Raddix. Diaz was not pregnant with twins at the time this article was written. Gossip Cop wishes congratulations to the happy couple and their new daughter.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
