A claim that Caitlyn Jenner is spending $50,000 per month on Sophia Hutchins is both late and wrong. Gossip Cop already busted this allegation nearly a month ago. Now it's spreading again.
In early June, RadarOnline peddled a story contending Jenner was "spending the big bucks" on Hutchins so she'd stick around. The site alleged that included footing the bill for "jewelry and handbags," as well as "facials and massages," and meals at "the nicest" restaurants. On top of that, it was claimed Jenner was also giving Hutchins "her own credit card and a weekly allowance."
The total supposedly added up to $50,000 a month, which would be a whopping $2.6 million a year. And while there's evidence of Jenner and Hutchins going to lunches together, and even traveling together, there's no proof that the former athlete is paying for every aspect of Hutchins' lifestyle. A rep for Jenner further maintained the narrative was "false."
Now weeks later, the website's sister outlet, Star, is peddling virtually the same storyline in its print edition with subtle word changes. For example, in the RadarOnline version, a so-called "source" was quoted as saying, "Caitlyn is spending an absolute fortune on Sophia." In the tabloid's article, a similarly unnamed "source" asserts, "Caitlyn spends a fortune." In the online story, one of the phrases used by the alleged tipster is "sealing the deal." In the magazine, it's "sweetening the deal."
Are readers supposed to believe that separate "sources" coincidentally spoke to two sister publications and said almost the exact same thing? On the contrary, this is evidence that the tales were jointly manufactured. Notably, the Star report contains the added claim that Jenner decided to shower Hutchins with money after being "shunned by the entire Kardashian clan." That makes it sound like even her own kids in the "Kardashian clan" have abandoned her, but that isn't true. Both Kendall and Kylie Jenner paid tribute to Jenner on Father's Day.
It's also important to recognize the tabloid has shown over the years that it actually knows very little about the "I Am Cait" star. Last fall, the magazine claimed Jenner and Kris Jenner were back together and "hooking up," an allegation so outrageously wrong that it was one of our top rumors of 2017. Tellingly, in this new piece about doting on Hutchins, nothing is said about the Jenners reuniting or whatever happened to that supposedly rekindled romance. That's because Star is apparently more interested in the sensational than the true.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
