A story claiming Caitlyn Jenner "refuses to call" Khloe Kardashian to "congratulate her" on her new baby was seemingly made-up. Gossip Cop can bust it. A rep for Jenner tells us the claims don't ring true.
As Gossip Cop has reported, HollywoodLife has spent the last couple of days trying to exploit the Tristan Thompson cheating scandal and the birth of Kardashian's daughter for traffic. As it often does when a hot topic dominates the celebrity news world, it manufactures stories that appear to feature insight on what is or isn't going on. In actuality, these tales are concocted to dupe search engines and fans for clicks. Since Tuesday, the site has suspiciously claimed to know not just Kardashian's reaction to what's been going on, but also sister Kim's feelings, as well as the inner thoughts of LeBron James, James Harden, Tyga and more.
Now on Friday, the blog is offering Jenner's perspective, claiming she is "adamant about not reaching out" to her former stepdaughter at this time. The outlet maintains that even though Kardashian is going through both a "joyous" and "tumultuous" time, Jenner won't "congratulate her on her newborn baby under any circumstances," and editorializes that her stance is "harsh." To lend credence to its report, the website quotes a so-called "source close to Caitlyn," who alleges she doesn't want to "pretend" she has a relationship with Kardashian.
This supposed snitch contends, "She hasn't talked to Khloe in a very long time and that is going to continue even after the drama Khloe is dealing with and having had her daughter... If Khloe wants Caitlyn in her life, she can reach out. It's not going to be the other way around." The online publication then refers to a story from February that Gossip Cop busted at the time, about Kim "supporting" Kardashian's purported decision to "keep [her] baby away" from Jenner.
As we pointed out then, Kardashian never actually said anything about keeping her daughter away from her ex-stepdad. Rather, the then-mom-to-be said in an interview that she didn't think having a baby would change their relationship. HollywoodLies, as it's known, was apparently inspired by that remark to make up its own related story, albeit a largely inaccurate one. And it's clear what inspired this new article.
On top of wanting to capitalize on all the interest in Kardashian and Thompson right now, the site seems to be piggybacking off of a report from The Blast, which on Thursday said that Jenner was not planning to go to Cleveland to visit Kardashian and the baby. It appears HollywoodLies decided to take the narrative further by fabricating these claims about Jenner "refusing" to even call her. In addition to this angle being transparently manufactured, a rep for the former Olympian also tells Gossip Cop that the story's contentions don't even ring true.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
