Jay Leno's wife is rattled by his closeness with Caitlyn Jenner and suspects they're "more than friends," according to one of the tabloids. The story is completely absurd. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to the National Enquirer, the former "Tonight Show" host's wife of 38 years, Mavis, isn't happy about his "bizarre bromance" with Jenner. A supposed source tells the magazine, "They're both car buffs and Jay loves to drive over to Cait's in one of his vintage automobiles. Mavis didn't have a problem with them spending so much time together when Cait was a he, but now she's wondering if there's more to it than just being buddies."
From there, the anonymous tipster goes on to say that Leno will be the best man at Jenner's supposed wedding to her transgender friend Sophia Hutchins. "Jay's honored to be a part of Caitlyn and Sophia's big day," adds the seemingly phony source. "They've always had a wonderful friendship and that didn't change with Caitlyn's transition. Jay mutters that Mavis is getting worked up over nothing!"
There are two different storylines going on here and neither one is true. For starters, it doesn't appear that the former talk show host and the former Olympian are such close pals. Jenner appeared on Leno's CNBC show "Jay Leno's Garage" back in 2016, but the two haven't been spotted together since and there's no indication they hang out socially. Simply put, Leno's wife isn't disturbed by a close bond he doesn't share with Jenner. A source close to the situation tells us the story is ridiculous.
Meanwhile, Gossip Cop reached out to Jenner's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that the magazine's article is complete fiction. The reality star isn't headed down the aisle with Hutchins, and Leno won't be the best man at their imaginary nuptials. It's worth noting, if Jenner and Leno truly had some sort of romantic relationship, why would the talk show host also serve as the best man at her wedding? Nothing about the outlet's fabricated report makes much sense.
Back in January, Gossip Cop called out the Enquirer for falsely claiming Jenner had chosen Kanye West to be the best man at her "wedding." Once again, the reality star isn't tying the knot with Hutchins, but this latest article fails to explain how Leno took over the (nonexistent) role. Nearly a year ago, the tabloid made up a story about Jenner being a "bridezilla" while planning her so-called "wedding" to Hutchins. That ceremony never took place and it's no closer to happening, with or without Leno's involvement.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
