A tabloid story purporting to know Caitlyn Jenner's plans for gender-confirmation story is inaccurate, Gossip Cop can exclusively reveal.
"Completing Her Transformation! Caitlyn's Final Surgery," blares a headline in the current edition of In Touch. It's further teased, "Nearly two years after revealing she's transgender, Caitlyn Jenner takes the last step toward becoming a woman." According to the article, "the wait is over," and the star is "going to be living like a woman in every way."
A so-called "insider" is quoted as saying Jenner has "decided to have gender-confirmation surgery. This isn't Botox — this is a massive and life-changing undertaking. She has been talking with a therapist for years to make sure that she is mentally prepared for the changes that will occur after this."
"She'll have a long recovery," says the magazine's supposed source. "Even though the process has come a long way thanks to modern medicine, it is still one that is painful and requires a lot of personal care to make sure there are no infections." And to appear further in-the-know, the outlet cites a doctor... but one who has never treated Jenner.
The story goes on to assert, "Caitlyn has shared her big news with her closest friends and family members, including ex-wife Kris Jenner," who has supposedly given her blessing. For Kendall and Kylie Jenner, though, "it's been tough," contends the alleged tipster. "It's the closing of the chapter on their father's life... The surgery is the last piece of Caitlyn's puzzle that she needs to feel complete."
But Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Jenner, who scoffed at the tabloid's report. The spokesperson even called it "hilarious" that In Touch is purporting to know such private details. This, after all, is the same gossip magazine that in 2015 actually said Kris and Caitlyn were getting remarried in a TV wedding, despite the transition.
And last year, the widely discredited publication ran a false cover story about Jenner "adopting a baby boy." In Touch has been consistently out of touch when it comes to the Olympian's personal life, and that remains the case today.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
