One of this week's tabloids claims Caitlyn Jenner is producing a "biopic" in which she'll star alongside her close friend Sophia Hutchins. The story is both false and ill-conceived. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.
According to Star, the former Olympian wants to make a movie with Hutchins, who also transitioned from male to female and cited Jenner as her inspiration. A supposed source tells the magazine, "Sophia's hugely ambitious, as is Cait, and they want to grow their brand so it can inspire others who've gone through a similar journey."
The alleged insider continues, "They've held onto everything since they met: videos, photos and even the hate mail. As much as they want to produce a positive story, there's a keenness to highlight the hurdles and abuse they've had to encounter." The questionable tipster further contends that the two plan to star in the project themselves because "Sophia's always wanted to be a star and Cait's determined to make that happen."
The magazine's premise is very flawed. Jenner is a gold medal-winning former Olympian who became a member of the most famous reality TV family of all time and later transitioned into a woman. Are we to believe that Jenner plans to make a biopic that skips over all of this and just focuses on her relationship with Hutchins, who she only met a few years ago?
Despite the tabloid's story being illogical, Gossip Cop still checked in with Jenner's spokesperson, who confirms it's completely false. Contrary to what the outlet's anonymous "insider" claims, the reality star's rep tells us on the record that she's not starring in a biopic alongside Hutchins.
Unfortunately, we're not surprised by the phony article. The tabloids have come up with a variety of untrue stories about the former Olympian getting a biopic. Gossip Cop previously busted Star's sister outlet, the National Enquirer, for wrongly reporting that Jenner's memoir, The Secrets Of My Life, was being turned into a TV movie.
Shortly before that, Gossip Cop busted the outlet's other sister publication, OK!, for falsely claiming Rob Lowe would portray the transgender reality star in a movie about her life. And prior to that, Gossip Cop debunked a story that inaccurately alleged Kendall Jenner was starring in a movie based on her dad's memoir. None of these supposed projects have ever been made, nor were they ever in development. And there won't be a biopic surrounding Jenner's friendship with Hutchins either.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
