Britney Spears is not begging boyfriend Sam Asghari to propose amid her father Jamie's health crisis, despite a made-up report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. It's simply not true.
Back in December, Spears' father nearly died as a result of a ruptured colon and he's still dealing with health issues. The singer became so distraught over the situation that she checked into a mental health facility last month. Spears left treatment earlier this week after spending 30 days in the facility. According to Star, the singer believes an engagement ring from her boyfriend will help her through this difficult time.
"With her dad's health in crisis, she wants Sam at her side now more than ever," says a supposed source, who further contends she's pushing her boyfriend away by insisting he propose. "He loves Britney and certainly doesn't want to be accused of abandoning her when she's so vulnerable. But he wishes she'd ease up," adds the questionable tipster.
The so-called "source" goes on to say that Spears' loved ones believe she needs to focus on her health before making any plans for the future. "She wants to spend the rest of her life with him, and that may well happen, but Sam feels they don't need a piece of paper to make it official," adds the suspicious insider. "If she doesn't slow down with the marriage talk, she risks driving him away."
Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Spears, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but assures us the tabloid's report is "completely untrue." The singer isn't begging her boyfriend to propose at this time, nor does she believe an engagement is the answer to her troubles. Unfortunately, this wouldn't be the first time a tabloid has tried to capitalize on the singer's recent difficulties.
Just last week, Gossip Cop busted Star's sister publication, the National Enquirer, for falsely claiming Asghari was dumping Spears amid her stay in a mental health facility. In reality, Spears' boyfriend is the one who picked her up from the facility when she checked out earlier this week. The Iranian model has been nothing but supportive of his girlfriend.
Last month, Gossip Cop called out Star's other sister outlet, OK!, for making up a similar story about Spears demanding that her boyfriend propose. The storyline wasn't true a few weeks ago and it's no more accurate now. Spears is currently focused on her own health as well as the well-being of her father. The singer simply isn't concerned with getting an engagement ring at this time.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
