Brie Larson is constantly feuding with other celebrities in the fantasy world created by the tabloids. Gossip Cop has debunked many of the actress’s nonexistent battles with other stars. Here are five wrong rumors on the subject.
Last week, Gossip Cop busted Star for falsely claiming Larson was feuding with Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig because the Captain Marvel actress supposedly dissed their Wonder Woman sequel. An anonymous insider told the magazine that Larson has a “cold, superior attitude” towards the fellow actresses at “social events,” while the Wonder Woman 1984 stars also overheard Larson saying their movie can’t compete with hers. All three sides, however, shot down the report.
Gadot’s own spokesperson told us on the record the story was simply “not true.” And individuals in both Larson and Wiig’s camps similarly assured us the narrative was fabricated. In fact, Gadot gave a shoutout to the Captain Marvel star on Instagram to celebrate the opening weekend of her superhero movie in March.
Last month, Gossip Cop called out Star for attempting to create a feud between Larson and Avengers: Endgame co-star Chris Hemsworth. The magazine alleged Hemsworth felt his co-star had a bad attitude while promoting their Avengers sequel and was being “rude” to the rest of the cast. The report was made up simply because the co-stars got into a playful spat over who performed more stunts during an interview on “Entertainment Tonight.”
Not only did Larson’s own rep dismiss the notion she was fighting with Hemsworth, but in that same TV interview, the actress was asked if she stole anything from the Avengers: Endgame set, and Hemsworth responded, “You stole our hearts.” Larson later retweeted fan art of their characters fighting alongside each other and tagged her co-star in the post. It’s clear the two get along just fine.
Also last month, Gossip Cop debunked an OK! article claiming Larson’s Avengers: Endgame co-stars all hated her. According to the tabloid, the actress’s co-stars thought she had a “big head” and a bad attitude, despite being new to the Marvel franchise. Don Cheadle denied the rumors on Twitter after they started circulating.
Larson also had many friendly exchanges with her co-stars in interviews and on social media. For example, Chris Evans congratulated her on Twitter following the box office success of Captain Marvel. Additionally, Robert Downey Jr. kissed the actress on the head when she got emotional during a fan event in Korea.
Gossip Cop busted OK! in 2016 for wrongly reporting Larson was feuding with Tom Hiddleston over the actor’s then-relationship with Taylor Swift. The outlet contended the Kong: Skull Island co-stars weren’t getting along on set because Hiddleston wouldn’t stop bragging about his romance with the pop star. A supposed insider was quoted as saying, “Brie comes from a humble background, and she thinks Tom has an overinflated ego.”
We debunked the story as soon as it emerged. And it was proven unequivocally false by the time Kong: Skull Island hit theaters in March 2017. In addition to praising each other in interviews, Larson and Hiddleston were photographed hugging, chatting and sharing laughs at the film’s red carpet premiere in London.
Finally, Gossip Cop called out OK! in 2016 for falsely alleging Larson was in a “bitter rivalry” with Jennifer Lawrence because both were nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars. The outlet further maintained there was tension between the two during a roundtable interview for The Hollywood Reporter. “Jen just didn’t hit it off with Brie,” an alleged source told the magazine. “She said Brie was a little uptight for her liking and that she couldn’t hang.”
We corrected the story at the time it was published, and just a few months ago, Larson revealed in an InStyle interview that she called Lawrence for advice after winning the Oscar because she had felt undeserving of the award. Larson noted the Hunger Games star helped ground her by admitting to having a similar experience. Far from being in a “bitter rivalry,” Larson turned to her friend for support following her Oscar win.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
