Brennley Brown Voice Semifinals Video

Brennley Brown stayed in her country wheelhouse during “The Voice” season 12 semifinals on Monday. Watch the video below!

Brown is one of eight artists remaining in the NBC competition, and one of two to solidify herself as a country performer. Her most direct competitor would be Lauren Duski, whose coach Blake Shelton has led many country singers to the finals. Brown herself is hoping to end up there next week, but not with Shelton’s help.

Rather, the 15-year-old has made it this far under the guidance of Gwen Stefani. The No Doubt front woman still has frontrunner Hunter Plake on her team, too, but she’s bonded with Brown in an obviously different way. And after Brown took on “Anyway,” a Martina McBride classic, last week, the pair now turned their attention to “Suds In The Bucket” from Sara Evans. In rehearsal, Stefani wanted to show “another side” and “change it up” by having the teen “work the stage” and be “energetic” on a country tune.

Brown was excited, but admitted to feeling “fear.” Stefani encouraged, “This is your chance to prove to Nashville who you want to be.” On the live broadcast, the aspiring star certainly seemed happy with how it all worked out, even yelling out a “yeehaw” at one point. Shelton remarked afterward, “This girl’s 15 years old and she’s made it this far.”

Stefani confessed to sometimes forgetting her contestant’s age, and gave her props for showing “confidence” and being “brave enough” to tackle a non-emotional country song that was just about entertaining the crowd. Check out the performance video below, as well as Brown’s duet with Duski.
