One of this week's tabloids claims Bradley Cooper has been "moaning" about A Star Is Born not winning as many awards as he'd hoped during awards season. The story simply isn't true. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
"Big-Head Bradley's Oscar Meltdown" reads a headline in the latest issue of Star. The accompanying article says the actor is despondent over being snubbed for a Best Director nomination at this year's Oscars, despite being nominated for a number of other awards. "You'd think Bradley would be over the moon to get a best actor Oscar nomination, but instead he's complaining that he's never going to win and moping about all the awards his movie missed out on," a supposed source tells the magazine.
The so-called "insider" goes on to say that the actor "has been a total control freak" throughout awards seasons, including "coordinating his red carpet looks with Lady Gaga." The alleged tipster adds, "Bradley thought [A Star Is Born] would finally land him an Oscar. But now he's realizing that his best chance might not work out — and he won't stop moaning about it!"
The idea that the actor is having some sort of meltdown over A Star Is Born not raking in every award and nomination simply isn't accurate. In an interview with Oprah earlier this week, Cooper admitted he initially "felt embarrassment" over not earning a Best Director nomination at the Oscars, but later realized that "even if I got the nomination, it should not give me any sense of whether I did my job or not."
The actor also noted that winning awards "play into things that have nothing to do with creative art," and explained he felt "incredible" satisfaction in seeing his co-stars, Gaga and Sam Elliott, get "recognized by the Academy." Additionally, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the actor, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but assures us the magazine's article is untrue.
It's worth noting, this isn't the first time this narrative has popped up in the tabloids. Last month, Gossip Cop busted Star's sister publication, OK!, for falsely claiming Cooper was "crushed" over A Star Is Born losing at the Golden Globes. As for Star, the magazine has been trying for quite some time to create a phony love triangle between the actor, his co-star and his girlfriend Irina Shayk. Last month, Gossip Cop called out the tabloid for making up a story about Gaga "stealing" Cooper from his girlfriend. The gossip media clearly has no insight into the actor's career or personal life.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
