Is Bradley Cooper joining “RuPaul’s Drag Race” after befriending one of the stars of the reality show? That’s the claim in one of the tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can exclusively set the record straight.

Drag queen Shangela, who appears in Cooper’s new movie A Star Is Born, was featured as a contestant on three seasons of the VH1 reality show. An article in the latest issue of the National Enquirer, which was later posted online by Naughty Gossip, says the TV personality has convinced Cooper to appear on the series.

A supposed insider tells the magazine, “Shangela plays Lady Gaga’s drag mother in the film, but she is raving more about Bradley. Bradley was a total gentleman as a director. He encouraged her to push the character as far as she wanted.”

The questionable source adds, “Bradley called her ‘honey,’ and she called him ‘Mr. Cooper.’ By the end of the shoot he was grabbing her face he was so excited.” The seemingly imaginary tipster continues, “It is clear that Bradley is very comfortable around drag queens. Now these two are such close friends, Shangela has convinced Bradley to make an appearance on RuPaul’s show.”

The tabloid’s premise is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Gossip Cop checked in with Cooper’s rep, who tells us on the record that it’s not true. It’s worth noting, Shangela has been a frequent contestant on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” but she’s not a permanent fixture on the show and isn’t involved behind the scenes.

The TV personality was eliminated from the all-star edition of the show last season, and it’s not clear if she’s returning for another installment. Shangela isn’t regularly involved in the series, so the idea that she convinced Cooper to join doesn’t make much sense. The magazine also provides zero details about what role the actor would play on the reality show. Regardless, Cooper’s spokesperson confirms to Gossip Cop that the story is fabricated.

Meanwhile, the Enquirer has been known to make up stories related to the actor’s career. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming that Cooper was forcing Gaga to use her real name, Stefani Germanotta, in the credits of A Star Is Born. As time has shown, the singer is listed in the film’s credits by her stage name. This latest article is more fiction from the unreliable outlet.
