Bradley Cooper isn't casting Lady Gaga in his upcoming biopic about composer Leonard Bernstein, despite a made-up report. Gossip Cop can debunk the rumor. We've learned it's fabricated.
Cooper is writing, directing and starring in a movie about the legendary conductor best known for composing the music for West Side Story. According to Grazia, the actor wants to reunite with his A Star Is Born co-star on the project. The unreliable outlet, however, doesn't bother to mention what role Gaga might play in the film. It's always a major red flag when a tabloid can't flesh out the details of its premise.
Additionally, there's not a single Hollywood trade publication reporting that Gaga is circling the film. The trade magazines are almost always the first outlets to break major casting news. UK-based tabloids simply aren't known to have the inside scoop on new developments in Hollywood.
Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Cooper, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but tells us there's "no truth" to the tabloid's report. We're assured that the actor isn't eying Gaga for a role in his Bernstein biopic. Although it's true the A Star Is Born co-stars have indicated in interviews that they'd like to work together again, Grazia's storyline isn't accurate.
Following the success of A Star Is Born and the media firestorm that has surrounded the co-stars, several tabloids have come up with bogus reports about them teaming up again. Earlier this month, Gossip Cop busted NW for falsely claiming Cooper and Gaga wanted to become the next Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie by making more movies together. That phony article also contended that the co-stars were a real-life couple, which most assuredly isn't the case.
Last month, Gossip Cop called out the Globe for wrongly reporting that Gaga was competing against Jennifer Lawrence to co-star with Cooper in his upcoming film Nightmare Alley. And earlier this year, we debunked an article about Cooper and Gaga reuniting for a Cleopatra biopic, in which the singer would portray the Egyptian queen and the actor would play her lover, Mark Antony.
It's entirely possible that Cooper and Gaga will team up again at some point in the future, but the gossip media has been jumping the gun with its various takes on the subject. In fact, it seems that every time the actor has a new movie go into development, Gaga is rumored to be attached. Cooper's Bernstein biopic is just the latest project the singer has been arbitrarily cast in.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
