For Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, 2019 has been a heck of a year. The wild success of A Star Is Born confirmed both as undeniable superstars. Lady Gaga only acted a little before Cooper cast her in the iconic role of Ally. He saw something in the “Born This Way” singer that he knew would shine on the big screen.
Cooper first saw it at a charity event in Los Angeles where Gaga performed “La Vie en Rose.” The actor told the New York Times that his “mind was blown” by the performance. From there, he contacted her agent and got the ball rolling. Soon, Cooper visited her house and the two did an impromptu duet of “Midnight Special.” He knew he had his Ally. It was a decision neither would regret.
The movie, of course, would become a huge hit and win a whole slew of awards. It won Gaga an Academy Award for Original Song for “Shallow.” It was her performance of the song with Cooper during the Oscars that sent the world – and especially the gossip media – into a tizzy. The performance even ended with a smoldering look between the two. It was the gaze that launched a million false tabloid stories.
At the time of the performance, Cooper was still dating Irina Shayk, whom he would break up with in a matter of months. The split only served to add fuel the fire. Gossip Cop has spent a large amount of time debunking stories of the actors’ supposed romance in 2019. Week after week, one tabloid or another published false rumors and stories about the two stars. Gaga and Cooper were not dating then, and they are not dating today.
Lady Gaga addressed the rumors last month in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. “I mean, we made a love story,” she told Winfrey. “For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course, we wanted people to believe that we were in love. And we wanted people to feel that love at the Oscars. We wanted it to go right through the lens of that camera and to every television that it was being watched on.” If the goal of her performance was to make people believe they were in love, the Academy may want to rethink who they’ll award with Best Actress since it seems like almost everyone is convinced the feelings were real.
Gossip Cop has busted somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 stories about Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in 2019 alone. We’ve busted stories about Gaga being pregnant with Cooper’s child, the two moving in together, them starring in more movies together and just about any other story that the tabloids can make up about a couple that isn’t really a couple and never has been. It all started with a chance meeting at a charity benefit, but who knows where the story will end for the tabloids?
Gossip Cop has determined this story is accurate to the best of our ability.
