Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth broke up this year, as did Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk. They weren't the only ones though. Every year, the tabloids are filled with claims of celebrity divorces and breakups. Gossip Cop debunks those kinds of false stories all the time. Sadly, when couples actually do split up, it only spurs even more false stories from the tabloids about why the breakups occurred. Here are five couples that didn't make it through the year.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

The on-again, off-again couple first started dating in 2010. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth broke up and got back together a few times throughout the decade. In 2018, they finally got married. Sadly though, the marriage would only last about seven months. They announced in August that they were breaking up and Hemsworth soon filed for divorce.

Of course, after the breakup, Cyrus made headlines around the world for her brief relationship with another person on this list, Kaitlynn Carter. After their whirlwind romance, the "Wrecking Ball" singer started dating longtime buddy Cody Simpson. For the tabloids, Cyrus' busy 2019 was a boon. Gossip Cop debunked articles almost daily about her personal life. Some, like Star, have even falsely predicted Cyrus was trying to win back Hemsworth. She's not. She's still with Simpson.

Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk

Quite possibly the biggest celebrity couple gossip of the year was about a relationship that never happened. After the huge success of A Star Is Born and Cooper's smoldering duet during the Oscars with his co-star in the film, Lady Gaga, rumors of a relationship exploded in the tabloid press. These rumors were further fueled when Cooper broke up with his girlfriend, Irina Shayk.

Cooper and Shayk began seeing each other in 2014 and welcomed their daughter into the world in 2017. The couple broke up in June. Cooper has been attached to a number of women since splitting from the supermodel. OK! even invented a crazy story alleging Cooper was being set up on dates by Sienna Miller. Gossip Cop debunked that story, but it was that rumored relationship with Gaga that drew the most attention. Gossip Cop has busted articles about the two more than 30 times.

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott

Kylie Jenner has made a lot of news this year. She became the youngest billionaire in the world and later sold part of her cosmetics company for a reported $600 million. She also broke up with rapper Travis Scott, whom she started dating in 2017. While rumors about Jenner being pregnant started swirling in late 2017, it wasn't until their daughter, Stormi, was born in February 2018 that she confirmed the rumors.

With rampant rumors of Scott's infidelity dogging the couple throughout 2018 and 2019, TMZ was the first outlet to report that the couple were taking a break after Jenner was spotted attending Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's wedding solo in October. As of December, the status of their relationship is a little murky. Jenner and Scott spent Thanksgiving together and Jenner has expressed that the two still have a great friendship and are focused on their daughter. One thing is for sure: Gossip Cop busted the allegation that Jenner had reunited with her ex, Tyga.

Lady Gaga and Christian Carino

Lady Gaga and Christian Carino started dating in 2017, and by October 2018, the couple was engaged. When Gaga called off the engagement to Carino in February, it really opened up the floodgates for the tabloid media to go nuts on the bogus rumors about Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Since breaking up with Carino, Gaga had a short summer romance with audio engineer Dan Horton and the tabloids connected her with Jeremy Renner and, of course, Bradley Cooper. Gossip Cop worked hard to keep the facts straight as the tabloids just couldn't get enough of the false reports about the "Bad Romance" singer's love life.

Kaitlynn Carter and Brody Jenner

As mentioned, Kaitlynn Carter made major headlines with her brief romance with Miley Cyrus over the summer. It came on the heels of her split from Brody Jenner after five years together. The couple were married in Bali in 2018, but revealed on The Hills: New Beginnings that they were never legally married in the United States.

While Carter was making the headlines, Jenner began dating Josie Canseco. That relationship, like Carter's with Cyrus, would be brief. More recently, Jenner has been rumored to be dating model Allison Mason, though Gossip Cop has been unable to confirm their status. Meanwhile, Gossip Cop will stay on all the rumors in 2020.
