Are Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk headed for a split over the actor’s friendship with Lady Gaga? That’s the bogus claim in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
“Bradley’s Bad Romance” reads a headline in the latest issue of In Touch. The accompanying article says the actor and his girlfriend have been “arguing for months” over his close connection with his A Star Is Born co-star. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “Their friendship has caused a rift between him and Irina.”
The questionable source goes on to say that the model is “jealous of their close bond and feels like Bradley spends more time raving about Lady Gaga than he does about her.” The supposed tipster then notes that Cooper and Gaga will likely be spending even more time together since their movie is expected to be an awards season contender, adding, “It could be just a matter of time before Bradley and Irina call it quits.”
None of this is true. Less than two weeks ago, Cooper and Shayk were photographed laughing and strolling down the street in New York City with their 18-month-old daughter. The model has her arm wrapped around her boyfriend in the photos, and the Daily Mail even noted, “The family looked ecstatic to be together as they enjoyed a relaxing stroll through the city.”
Meanwhile, the claim that Shayk is upset about her boyfriend “raving” about Gaga more than her isn’t accurate and doesn’t make much sense. Cooper has been making the rounds promoting A Star Is Born, not his relationship. While talking about the movie, the actor answers questions about what it was like working with the singer. As for Shayk, he’s always chosen to keep their relationship private.
Additionally, Gaga is engaged to talent agent Christian Carino, so it’s not as if Cooper has struck up a friendship with a single woman. Shayk has no reason to be concerned. The A Star Is Born co-stars are very close, and they frequently praise each other in interviews, but their bond is based on mutual admiration and respect. Their relationship isn’t romantic and it’s not headed that way.
Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Cooper, who tells us on the condition of anonymity that there’s no truth to the magazine’s claims. In Touch is the same outlet that made up a story about Jennifer Lawrence being angry at Cooper for casting Gaga in A Star Is Born instead of her. In reality, the actress praised the movie and said the actor did an “amazing” job directing it. This latest article is more nonsense.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
