Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise have not been in a "secret feud" for 25 years, despite a bogus report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim. There's simply no truth to it.
According to RadarOnline, the two movie stars have hated each other since co-starring together in 1994's Interview with the Vampire. The blog further contends that the longtime war between the two is "set to explode big-time" because Pitt is having trouble getting his sequel to World War Z off the ground, while Cruise is in the midst of filming Top Gun: Maverick. It's not entirely clear what one has to do with the other, but the implication seems to be that Pitt resents Cruise for getting his sequel made.
A supposed source tells the outlet, "This could be a real showdown," but the tipster doesn't bother to elaborate on what that means. To back up its story, the blog then cites an inaccurate report from 10 years ago. In 2009, a German magazine claimed Pitt slammed Cruise's WWII film Valkyrie by calling it "a ridiculous movie." Pitt's rep later went on the record to dismiss the story, explaining that "Brad has never even seen Valkyrie."
From there, the outlet wrongly maintains that Cruise lost the lead role in the 2010 spy movie Salt to Pitt's estranged wife Angelina Jolie. The site claims the actor is still bitter about his role being rewritten for a woman. That wasn't the case. In reality, Cruise turned down Salt because he felt it was too similar to his Mission: Impossible franchise. After the actor dropped out, producers decided to retool the role for a female lead.
The blog's article is riddled with inaccuracies and doesn't include one shred of proof to indicate that Pitt and Cruise are at odds in any way. Still, Gossip Cop reached out to Pitt's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that the report is completely false. Despite what the website's anonymous "source" claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actor's behalf confirms he's never been in a feud with Cruise, let alone a "secret" one spanning 25 years.
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time the former co-stars have been the subjects of a phony tabloid story. Shortly after Pitt's separation from Jolie in 2016, RadarOnline's sister outlet, the National Enquirer, falsely claimed Cruise was in a secret romance with Jolie. The gossip media has a habit of arbitrarily linking Pitt and Cruise, but the idea that there's any sort of rivalry between them simply isn't true.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
